The push marketing is is one factor that killed it for me. Plus the fact that a few years ago, Symantec sold off Norton and I wasn't convinced the new Norton company was going to be as good as Symantec had been at developing the program.

hands-on malware protection test, ESET detected 84% of the samples, but the fact that quite a few managed to install executable files despite ESET's detection dragged its overall score down to 7.2 of 10 possible points. That's one of the lowest scores among apps tested with this sample set.
ESET's ability to block the latest prevalent malware. It earns a middling 90% protection score, about a third by blocking all access to the dangerous URLs and the rest by eliminating the dangerous downloads. Many competitors managed a perfect 100%, among them Bitdefender, Sophos, and Trend Micro.
If you ask me this is a great price - almost worth it to buy 2 - and try too get 2 years for $40 plus tax?
I did the trial of Malwarebytes and now doing the 30day trail of Bitdefender - both are very good - Bitdefender is a little pricey -been using MS Defender for years - but with Windows 10 - in Oct might lose updates , may be a good idea to find a better solution for protection.. ( research time for me )
Most choices of anti-virus are a personal choice and what works well with your own systems..

Remember, they can charge as much as we willing to pay. ESET 1 year license for $20 even after 66%off is a jock, I wouldn't use it for free.

* It makes you register for a ESET Home account - you can't just put in the key and have it activate.
* Some of it's options - banking protection and one other - always have a warning on them if you don't enable them. To enable them, you have to send all of our URL traffic to ESET. I would rather not.
Since this was almost a tie, ratings-wise, with BitDefender, I'll probably be buying that when this expires; I wouldn't have to do any of this if Kaspersky were still a viable choice.
