Disagree about the value proposition. These serve a specific purpose, namely when you want music but also NEED to hear what's going on around you. Noise canceling ear buds do the opposite. When I ski, I exclusively use Shokz and wouldn't even THINK of using anything else, because I can't afford to miss someone shouting if I'm about to get hit or buried. If my Shokz have a dead battery, I'm going out without music.

I have several Shokz products. They're all at least bone conducting. You can put ear plugs in for complete noise isolation, as well. Incidentally, the Pros are not worth the money, IMO. They have a lower IP rating. I can wear my regular Openruns anywhere (except swimming), but when I accidentally wear the Pros in the shower, they sound like they're going to pop, so I have to rush to shut them off and leave them for a few days to dry out. Add to that that the sound quality isn't significantly better (the Pros sound a bit muddier…even BEFORE they were worn in the shower, LOL) and mic tests with friends have proven the mic is actually a bit worse in most cases than regular Openruns…so it's not nearly worth the price gap, If you're looking for exercise Shokz, I recommend the Openruns. If you're looking for better call quality, I recommend OpenComms.
Do the Openruns have that proprietary charging cable though? I thought only the Pros / pro 2 had a USB-C connection. Not a big deal for some, but it would be worth it to me to get the Pros just to be able to use the dozens of USB-C cords I have lying around instead of having to worry about a different cable.

I have many sets of headphones. In ear causes stank-ear, a real problem. Terrible itchiness.

Over the ear leads to getting sweaty.

Both of those are best for noise canceling. I use neither because of the sweat/itchiness.

Bone conduction are best when there's outside noise. I can put earplugs in if I want to cancel that noise, and then take the plugs out when the noise goes away.

OpenFit are my favorite for sleep and for less obvious wearing. I put one on my left ear. Then I sleep on my back or on my right without issue. More comfy than the bone conduction types.

I'm wearing a pair of openrun pro minis at this second. If I'm going to be up and around all day, these are my favorites, but not when going to work. There, I go for the openfit. If I was going to be on the phone all day, I might use the opencom, but I find that the sound difference isn't that great so they're not worth the bother.

Easy enough for you to look it up yourself. I prefer not having to worry about water ingress.

can someone tell me if this compare to costco shokz on sale? thank you

These are mainly speakers pointed at your ears so the audio quality is much better. They still have a bone conduction mode if you put them in the classic mode, but in normal mode they won't vibrate anymore when listening loudly.

Call quality is very important to me. I looked into the OpenComm model, but the boom mic is a deal breaker.
Truth be told, the mics aren't bad on either of them. It's the extra openings/grating on the front of the Pros that make the mic susceptible to wind and outdoor noises, I believe, though I'm not sure of it. Maybe the fixed that on the Pro 2s, though.

(And if you look at one of the previous posts, there are people who did not find the problems I did with the Pros.)

I think you can count on either of the Openruns for call quality. The Pros just aren't as rugged as the normal ones.

I don't have Pro 2s, but I do have Pros. To this point, every Shokz product I own has the same proprietary magnetic charging cable.

(I've had six Shokz products to this point, from back when they were Aftershokz/Aeropex. I've broken two of them by being stupid, tho.)

I bought these so I could use my usb C cables, too:

(In case that doesn't load for you: They are USB C to Shokz adapters on Amazon.)

I thought my old aftershokz Air (ca. 2019) died, but it turned out the charging port had just gotten too dirty for a good connection. At this price, I almost wish they had died.A lot of the value proposition for these has been supplanted by noise canceling earbuds. But these will always be better for yard work (use with earplugs), for having situational awareness around the house (listening for kids or going in and out of conversations), and situational awareness on the road. Plus, these have longer battery and aren't so easy to lose.
If you're a distance runner targeting anything faster than like a 9-minute mile pace, Shokz are so much more ideal than earbuds, it's not even close. I've never been able to get a distance workout in wearing earbuds without them constantly falling out of place.

Thanks! Was debating between bestbuy's blue one and this. Anyway finally picked up a shokz item. Always wanted one since I tried one at a store.

Got this for my wife, not having tried other versions of bone conduction or Shokz. It really comes down to use-case. She absolutely loves them because she has them on for HOURS, either for runs, or at home while on conference calls and cooking or baking as a hobby/side biz. All she uses them for are podcasts, and phonecalls, and for that they're fantastic and not tiring, and she's able to hear if someone around her is trying to talk to her.
I listen to music, and kinda loud, and these are in my opinion terrible for someone who wants to drown out the world and really be immersed in music with a wide soundstage.

I have the OG OpenRun Pro's and they have the proprietary charging cable that got chewed up by the puppy. I went to eBay and got some USB (C) adapters to the proprietary charger head and it was way cheaper than buying a new cable from the company.

That being said, these use a USB C connection with a cover.

I just hope that they fixed the music glitching/hopping problem that I have with my Note 20 Ultra and other Samsung phones (I've read). It's quite annoying but the convenience of bone conduction means I'm still using them anyway.

If you have a bestbuy close by, try the pro vs pro 2. Pro 2 seemed to have more defined bass than the pro. For me, I will choose Pro 2 over the pro.

I have the original Aftershokz. About 6 months ago they automatically changed from giving information in English to Mandarin. So frustrating... I have no idea how nor if it can be changed back.
