ALERT: You can NOT turn off interpolation (motion smoothing) in this set. I was considering this tv until I read about a forced firmware update that took this option away in the last firmware.

Be very cautious of Roku.

Roku makes it. These TVs are too new to know the actual quality of them. We do know the picture quality on their higher end TVs are pretty good and they have some interesting features like the WiFi remote and some wireless speaker capabilities.
Hisense is not a good TV brand they are on the up and up and have some major QC issues that often goes under the radar on this sub. I would not recommend them.
TCL gets a lot of hate because just like Hisense when they started out they had some serious QC issues. However, their higher end stuff is actually pretty good especially for the price. I think TCL is making the best TVs if your budget is more mid than it is low. Their lower end stuff (4 series) tends to last around the 3-5 year range in my experience.

Echoing this comment. I've had 4 different TCL Roku TVs and currently have another 5 TCL in 2 homes. I love the brand for the value and quality. Samsung had been my top for years, but pricing is wayyyy higher.

Also, I know many folks having after only 7 to 8 months, the screen going out. Make sure and get that extended warranty or you may regret it on this one. Best, go to one of the wholesale clubs where they give you the add-on extended warranty for free. Saves you some money.

I know you have know reason to lie, but surely this can't be true‽ I'll stop calling you Shirley now.

I had just recommended this and came upon your comment. I can't fathom how this is still a thing. I'll go un-recommend now. Thanks for the heads up.
Don't get me wrong. I was all sold on getting this exact tv once the Pro model dropped a $200. Then, I started reading reviews and stumbled on a subreddit. That's where I discovered this important bit of information.

Why Roku took the option away to turn off interpolation is anyone's guess but from what I've read, they have strayed very far from being customer friendly and their firmware updates you HAVE to take or lose functionality. The Roku streaming devices went through this same firmware debacle in early 2024.

I heard that if you stand behind this TV, you can't see anything.

I just got the $218 Walmart 50" Hisense U6H for a bedroom, and I am honestly stunned about the performance, it's almost unbelievable for that kind of money. It's a fantastic television, with a beautiful picture and snappy UI. It does come preset in power saver mode though. I wonder how many people misjudge the picture on that alone. I also had smaller Hisense bedroom TV for more than 5 years that never had any issues except the interface getting sluggish. My main TV is an LG OLED, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Hisense on cost alone. Also, the brand is hardly up and coming, they came up around the same time as TCL in the states, and sort of built their reputation on the H8C which is going on 10 years old. I've had problems with other brands, but Hisense has been great so far, and they also come with a 2 year warranty after I registering. Of course this is all anecdotal, and others may have different experiences.

I got the 65" when it was briefly $500

Picture is absolutely fantastic with a good source, especially 4K movies.

Upscaling is atrocious, worse than the Sharp 65" Roku it replaced. (Wanted local dimming for dark scene improvement in movies)

Lighted, rechargeable remote is a nice upgrade from the older AA Bluetooth.
I think the Roku interface is better than everything else. (Samsung, LG, Fire, Apple, Google/Chrome)

I thought for sure there's no way this could be true. Googled and found multiple articles about it and tons of posts on Roku's own community forums from people that are furious about it. There's some replies from Roku staff essentially playing dumb and as far as I can tell, they have yet to officially acknowledge it.

Apparently it happened with OS update 13 around June of last year. OS 14 has come out since and they have not fixed it. People in their forum are saying the only fix is selling buying a different TV lol

I'm stuck on Roku TV's for my bedroom because I already have Roku speakers and subs and like having one simple remote to control the streaming apps and display settings, because I change the picture preset almost every night. I could switch I guess, but I like the Roku speakers.

I would bite on the Pro if they didn't remove the option to turn off motion smoothing. Completely ruins the TV.

I own a Hisense U8H and its a great TV for the price...I actually paid $600 for an open box

There are moments of greatness and I think it gets even brighter than my Samsung QN90a
BUT..if you are accustomed to Samsung/Sony picture processing the Hisense can let you down with the banding ,macro blocking and big color/ brightness shift if you are more than about 20-30 degrees off angle

if you are a patient shopper you can actually find some better overall sets
one example being the discontinued Sony X93L that Walmart has right now..$999 for a 65" and $1299 for a 75"
That falls about where the Hisense U8N and TCL QM851 are right now

I have the 55 pro and it's the first thing I did (turned off motion smoothing). Not sure why the 75 would be any different
