These are trash, I won't touch another Frig/Electrolux product. 1st one failed in a year.. Electrolux sent a new one. 2nd one failed within a year. Electrolux sent a 3rd one... failed again within a year. I already lost all faith with their product, but I figured as long as they replace them every year what the hell.... but here's where things got muddy.
Electrolux only sends replacements within the warranty period of the 1st purchase, which means any replacement sent has zero warranty on it. So if your 1st one goes out at the end of the factory warranty and you get a replacement that's doa or fails within a day you're screwed. Bad practice and even more worrisome that a manufacturer doesn't warranty new items in that situation. Not to mention the warranty and exchange process can take weeks. Some even had waited months.
Normal warranty is a year, but apparently the compressor had 2 years. My 2nd one failed (compressor) weeks before the 2yr period, so that's the only way I got a 3rd.

What about the 3 year extended warranty? Is it worth buying it in the event it fails? Any insights/experience with claiming the warranty?

I've had very good luck with GE, bought them at Home Depot. My first one lasted about 5 years of continuous operation in the basement. I bought the one with the built-in pump to empty into the utility sink by the clothes washer. Replaced with the same model, and that's going strong now for about 7-8 months.

Thank you. Do you have a model for me to check on home depot?

We have this one:
GE (https://www.homedepot.com/p/GE-50.../322155488)
50-Pint Dehumidifier with Built-in Pump for Basement, Garage or Wet Rooms up to 4500 sq. ft. in Grey, ENERGY STAR
Internet # 322155488
Model # APHL50LB
Store SKU # 1008340471

Also, for full disclosure, we bought another GE one, a lesser model without the pump, because we were having issues in the finished part of the basement (the one with the pump is in the smaller, unfinished section where the HVAC and washer/dryer are). That GE one lasted just over a year before the circuit board failed, which is apparently quite common with that particular model. I bought it with a credit card that had a warranty extension on it and received my money back. I think it was the GE 35 pint one.

Now I just keep the door open between the two areas if the humidity climbs in the finished area. The bigger one handles it just fine.

I bought their extended warranty. Unit failed and was replaced by warranty. The replacement unit also failed. It took forever to get them to take any action on this but at the end they replaced a 50 pint unit with a 30 pint unit. It wasn't even worth it keep fighting them.
