I bought their grande last year when it was on sale for $300. IMO, it was quite excellent.

Difference between the 2 above is BMS, with classique is about 4-6, which is likely Prime or so grade (or little bit better). and Grande is BMS 8+,

I got this last time and will never get it again. The meat was sinewy and dry. Marbling looked good, but def not the BMS 8+ that was advertised. It was more on par with a good prime grade steak from Costco. Would not recommend buying this unless you live in the boonies and have no access to a local butcher or Costco.

Ive gotten "wagyu shortrib" from these guys for about $5/lb when it was on sale.

It was very well marbled, which short rib is already fatty as hell so the marginal benefit was not much, but the meat was very good.

maybe just my luck then :/ about 1/3 of mine was on par with Costco prime grade, but the rest was similar to choice

wagyu is grown all throughout the world.... only thing that comes from japan is a5, other grades/etc are usually not worth importing... and only specialized places get it, but then you pay for that....
