How does this compare to the Beelink SER5 Max? I just bought that for $320.
based on my experience, Beelink is slightly more durable. We retired a lot Intel NUC by Beelink in office and warehouse both with Ryzen 7, running 24 hr for over a year, they are all good. My Minisforum, TH80, fan control part stop working (not fan). Purchased on Nov.2022, dead Nov.2024, run 2-4 hour per day. Now I have to put external USB laptop fan to get heat out. My next will be Beelink, but have not decided if SER or GTR.

Great! Thanks for the reply. I'm able to emulate ps3 on it just fine so far so I'm happy.

Thanks OP! For this price that comes with a SSD is a decent replacement for aging parents who still want a desktop.

Might be a dumb question, but one of these would be more then enough to run a Plex server right? No upgrades needed, using a NAS for storage.
Go for an Intel setup due to hardware transcoding. You can get Intel mini-PCs for around $100 that will be plenty for Plex. But why not use Jellyfin instead? It's free and IMHO better than Plex. And in all honesty, most devices from the last 5 years can play native content no problem. Plex/Jellyfin onl useful to transcode to devices off the network like at a hotel.

You might prefer one of the N100 NUCs instead. Quicksync can transcode multiple 4k streams, and the CPU tops out at only 6W!

I have had this mini PC for well over a year. Not a lick of trouble with it. Admittedly, I received it bare, added 32 GB RAM and a 2 TB SDD, used it for office applications, not gaming.

Any idea how slow the shipping will be? I asked support and haven't gotten a response. I'd rather not wait 2 months lol

Their refurbs are good, but that's another potential return point.

So the time it takes to arrive matters even more…

It's only a 15 to 20% performance hit on a gpu to be used with a tb3 dock it's not that big of a deal if you need the space saving of a mini pc though,
I wouldn't do it. That's a pretty big hit. So you essentially end up paying 20% more for a graphics card for performance you aren't getting.

Yes, it will definitely work for it. However, you know what I ended up doing... I just used an Nvidia shield that I have in my bedroom and connected to a nas where my media is stored. Transcodes and streams while I watch YouTube TV on it.

That seems to be the consensus based on the limited info I can find, yeah.

If it was more of a "couple weeks" even, I'd be in

Do you guys think there might be a big added cost because of tariffs in china? I know someone who bought some stuff and it was held/not delivered until those dues were paid

Would this be a good spring board for a Blue Iris NVR? Need a NVR and instead of going with a Reolink setup, I figure Blue Iris would be better with a mix of cameras (Eufy and Kasa). Welp! Thanks!

I got a N100 mini PC for $160 with 2x2.5GbE. This is obviously much more powerful than that though.

Oh. Nice! What did you go with? Looking to create a custom nas, and that sounds perfect
