For a small solar system like this you probably don't want to use an inverter. The battery has a max 10A DC output which limits you to maybe ~100W inverter and idle losses will drain the battery fast.

Instead, you could use 12V DC lights connected to the battery or the controller load output.

Re: use cases - mostly outdoor

Important: both the controller and battery do not appear to have low temp cutoff protection. For year round use in all but the warmest climates, get the kit without the battery and get a battery with low temp cutoff protection.

- interior lighting, small fans, USB for a shed or low voltage landscape lighting
- front gate opener & ring camera
- gazebo fairy lights / device charging

I've been interested in a solar solution for lighting the inside of my shed. I'm not trying to be Colin Furze, but I just want to have some light so I can put away my tools at the end of the day.

Would a kit like this do that?

I use a simple ~$30 solar outdoor light inside my shed, just ran the cord through vent and mounted panel facing sky. It's motion sensitive and kicks on when I walk into the shed. Here's an example light https://a.co/d/gfkD0yl

I wish that controller had some more power out options besides a 12V and that USB-A 1.2A output.
I'd love a USB-C with the maximum allowable output so that I could throw a USB-C hub on there and charge all my devices at once.

Yes. In fact, you can just use solar charging sensor lights if you have a window. That said, you'll need an inverter for the lighting and I highly recommend usb led lights because they sip power. This is a car battery that will solar recharge (every 5 days) essentially so whatever you would use that much power for (probably not a heater or coffee pot)

Yes, just use 12v light fixtures from a camping supply. Tons of options for 12v lighting on Amazon as well.

Why not connect a hub to the battery? You don't need to connect to the controller.

The battery can be discharged down to -10C.
