only if you want "ai" smart notifications (i.e. pet/person detected), browser viewing, or cloud recordings. Basic motion notifications, live viewing via app, and recordings saved via sd card on camera are all free.
I have 2 of them and they are excellent. Easy to install, setup is great. I'm on mesh wifi so have good coverage.

Seems like the right price to combine my "dumb" back patio flood light and camera looking out the back window. I already have a bunch of wyze cams, so this should be an easy addition to my set-up.

Wyze stuff isn't anywhere close to the best you can buy, but can't really be beat for the price.

Thank you. Do you know if you could pick active areas off the screen for activity notifications like Eufy?

Yes, you can set up detection zones and sensitivity. They give you a grid overlay and you turn each square on/off. Not sure how many boxes are in the grid for the floodcam, but their v4 camera is an 8x16 grid, and I believe it's the same resolution as this.

yes, it even comes with a hook so you don't have to ask someone to hold it while doing the wire nuts.

Can confirm you DONT need a subscription to write to SD card. This would be borderline criminal. The reviewer must be misinformed, but there are features as mentioned in the top comment that do require a subscription, SD saving is free.
