Available from:Book Synopsis:
  • Author: William Gibson
  • Print Length: 268 pages
  • Winner of the Hugo, Nebula, and Philip K. Dick Awards, Neuromancer is a science fiction masterpiece - a classic that ranks as one of the twentieth century's most potent visions of the future.
  • Case was the sharpest data-thief in the matrix - until he crossed the wrong people and they crippled his nervous system, banishing him from cyberspace. Now a mysterious new employer has recruited him for a last-chance run at an unthinkably powerful artificial intelligence. With a dead man riding shotgun and Molly, a mirror-eyed street-samurai, to watch his back, Case is ready for the adventure that upped the ante on an entire genre of fiction.
  • Neuromancer was the first fully-realized glimpse of humankind's digital future - a shocking vision that has challenged our assumptions about technology and ourselves, reinvented the way we speak and think, and forever altered the landscape of our imaginations.

Same price on Kobo:
https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/neuromancer-1

(SD staff, what gives? This is like the third ebook sale I've annotated today where Kobo was missing from the vendors. If you're just gonna do the Kindle link, then fine, but you can't seriously tell me that you've got more B&N Nook users on this forum than Kobo users)

There's a certain irony that this is on sale a couple weeks before Amazon disables the ability to download your books for offline storage (you can still download them to your kindle, but that's the only option now).

Quite possibly my favorite book. An amazing bit of cyberpunk fiction.

Even after all these years, this story is still really relevant. The irony is that the author only uses typewriters.

I don't get the irony, but I do have the answer... don't buy it on kindle. 😁

This is your reminder not to buy eBooks from Amazon. You're supposed to enjoy books about the cyberpunk dystopia, not buy from a company that's ushering it in.

Relatedly, Amazon is now inserting advertisements into purchased movies. There is discussion that this is "probably" a bug. That said, it's been that way for around a month now and like so many other bugs that result in extra ads being played, I dont see where they have a high incentive to get it fixed.

I have been slowly shuffling back to physical media as more and more digital content providers make their product worse.

UHD Compatible Drive + MakeMKV + Plex. I make my own digital copies. Decades of legal precedent make it legal for you to create your own backup copies of software and media you purchase. Congress was lobbied (i.e. paid off) to support the DMCA which make it illegal for your to decrypt said media, in an effort to criminalize a long-standing right of ownership of copyright materials. All they did was drive all decryption offshore. /golfclap

I'll keep buying. Why don't you worry about things that really matter.

Yes, especially since my tax dollars already purchased the book and many other great public resources. Amazon keeps poor people poor.
