$5k is a lot of money for 12kw.
JIMO.
Spent $1500 on 14kw of battery. Imagine having $3500 to figure out a good 48v inverter that can be recharged via solar, etc.

If you're willing to pay a lot extra for simplicity, I guess this is a good deal?
Figure ~10hrs or so actual on a 1000w constant load.
If just needing to run a full size fridge (~150w) and maybe recharge phones or a laptop, 24-30hrs use.
From what I heard Costco is no help either in case of issues because it sold directly by manufacturer (they call Costco direct) and Costco simply asks customers to talk to the manufacturer to resolve issues
EG4 with 14kwh is 3300 and battery prices are dropping fast.

I've been looking at this version (2 batteries) at Costco for awhile. disputing on pulling the trigger before new tarrifs hit. but do I stick with costco for more $$$ but better chance if something goes wrong I can easily refund it? also tax credit OR go for this refurb that is cheaper but no tax credit.

Very likely, but it depends on the size of the air conditioner. Based on my calculations, you could comfortably run a 5-ton AC unit with a good margin on the specifications. However, depending on efficiency, it might only last for a couple of hours. One smaller window unit or minisplit would be more reasonable.

a 13,000-15,000 btu ac will run 1000-1500w.
so you'd get about 10hrs on one of those with this battery.

That's a lot of money for 12kw.

I would go Costco and tax credit. Picked up one of their smaller Delta units directly from them via Amazon on a recent sale and it had issues and they are zero contact, no support after multiple attempts reaching out.

It's worth a slight premium for Costco's level of support should anything go wrong, as for me I'm out almost 500 bucks.

Orange, can you provide a link to the 14Kw battery for $1500? I think I want to go your route.

4x eco worthy 12v 280ah batteries. Wire in series. They're on ebay probably still on sale for like $330-350/each right now.

For big hvac unit the starting current may be too much. If so, you can install a slow start circuit on the hvac unit.

the tax rule states it's supposed to be a *new* installation, so i don't think refurbs technically count. you could try to get away with it, but good luck if you are audited.
