All my other skechers of which I have had many are fairly indestructible and excellent soles... they have all been leather heavy thick soled, hiking boot or work boot types.
skechers have the benefit of some good xtra wide that pinch me less than many.
I usually have to cram into a 4e with cramming into 6e like some Dunham's and others a bit better.... am over 8e so not much exists for me without crushing my feet

It has a soft but firm stack height for stability, zero drop, and a wide fit in the midfoot, forefoot, and toebox. I don't have much experience with road traction since I don't typically wear running shoes, but the Whitin's grip feels comparable to my wife's On Clouds and Brooks. The shoe provides a smooth step feel, has a breathable upper, and is lightweight.
For fit, it's comparable to my Altra Lone Peak 7s in wide, but at a third of the price. Pairing them with Powerstep or Currex insoles makes them an even better choice for wide-footed individuals, depending on your arch support needs.
With so much footwear outsourcing in China, these budget brands have leveraged manufacturing expertise to produce surprisingly high-quality shoes—far from the "Payless" cheap brands of the '80s. Good shoes are becoming more of a commodity these days.
