In a comparison video by Better for Auto Spa, Adam's Polishes Wheel & Tire Cleaner was pitted against Purple Power, a popular and inexpensive all-purpose cleaner and degreaser. Here are the key points from the comparison:

• Performance: Adam's Polishes Wheel & Tire Cleaner outperformed Purple Power in terms of cleaning effectiveness with less effort. Adam's cleaner was noted for its ability to foam well when mixed at a 1:1 ratio, which helped in cleaning the tire more efficiently.

• Price: Purple Power is significantly cheaper, costing about $5 for a gallon, while Adam's Polishes Wheel & Tire Cleaner is priced at $38 for the same volume. This price difference is a major consideration for those looking to save money.

• Formulation: Adam's cleaner is a purpose-made product for wheels and tires, designed to break down harsh tire blooming, oxidation, and remove built-up brake dust with ease. It's non-acidic, alkaline, and has a citrus scent. Purple Power, on the other hand, is an all-purpose cleaner and degreaser, which, while effective, isn't specifically formulated for tire and wheel cleaning.

• Usage: Adam's cleaner was used at a 1:1 dilution ratio to get more value for money, whereas Purple Power was used full strength due to its low cost. The video noted that Adam's cleaner sprays out better when diluted, while Purple Power was more runny.

• Safety: Both products are safe on factory clear coated, painted, and powder-coated wheels, but caution is advised against using them on raw, unpolished aluminum or any unprotected metal surfaces.

• Final Thoughts: The video concluded that while both products worked, Adam's Polishes Wheel & Tire Cleaner was the better choice for those looking for a dedicated, high-performance cleaner, despite its higher cost. Purple Power, while effective, requires more effort and is better suited for those on a budget or doing high-volume cleaning.

In summary, Adam's Polishes Wheel & Tire Cleaner offers superior cleaning performance with less effort, but at a higher cost, while Purple Power provides a budget-friendly option that still gets the job done, albeit with more manual work involved.

In my experience this one is pretty weak for brake dust. Just use an APC (KC green star,bh surfex hd) for tire and a heavy duty wheel cleaner ( griots, bh auto wheel).

It does an ok job for wheels but its bread and butter is on tires. This stuff is amazing on stripping a tire.

I've had the opposite experience, but I also have an EV so perhaps mine is more dirt and road grime and less of the brake dust.

Do I need this? I normally don't have super dirty tires that my regular wash soap won't clean. 'm guessing this doesn't leave the wet tire look?

Adam's has worked very well for me at full strength.
I diluted it once 1:1 like some have suggested and it performed terribly for me.

I'm not a detailer but this stuff works great on my service truck wheels and tires. Throw it in a hand pump sprayer at full strength and it cleans everything without needing to scrub. Non-acidic as well so no worries about it damaging your wheels.

Car soap doesn't clean tires properly. This stuff cleans tires properly so you can then apply your desired tire dressing.

Anyone can always use Dawn or a cheap APC to clean their wheels. It is just a personal preference. But if you are serious about car detailing, use dedicated wheel cleaners. Adam's Wheel and Tire Cleaner is the market leader. I use it for dirty wheels. For maintenance, I use P&S Brake Buster with an IK foamer.

Superior Products Dark Fury diluted 4:1 is what I use for heavy brake dust, and it works great. At 10:1 dilution, its also a great bug gut cleaner and paint safe on the body for lower rocker panels and road film removal.
I almost feel like I can use Dark Fury at 10:1 to fully wash a grimy vehicle, although that may not be the most economical option for less soiled or regularly maintained vehicles.

Nanoskin Non-Acid Wheel & Tire Cleaner is around $20 and very similar in performance to Adam's based on various detailing reviews and forums I've read. It's dilutable 4:1, so a pretty great value. I use it on my OEM wheels and have no complaints. Be aware though that if you have aftermarket aluminum wheels, you shouldn't use this type of wheel cleaner as it will damage them
