This is tempting, but I got burned by Elegoo on the Neptune 3, when they released the Neptune 3 Pro 6 months later and all firmware updates on the 3 stopped entirely. The Marlin and Klipper community never had an officially supported config (it's been a while since I checked) due to garbage documentation of the board they used.

Lots of people raised this issue on Reddit, Facebook etc, and Elegoo pretty much said too bad.

Hard for me to trust initial releases after that, especially when a lot of "reviews" thus far are from paid YouTubers.

Just my 2 cents.

This is not a resin printer; it's a FDM printer that uses rolls of filament. Here is a link that explains the differences. [formlabs.com]

I found you can use promo code SASE10 to take off another $10. Helps take the shipping cost down.

Why is this printer better than the top current 3d printers like a Bambu lab printer?

No one has able to confirm this is better, but it is half price of the p1s

I ordered one while watching the live stream... I am hopeful that I got in the first batch of US that are already ready to ship... will see.
You can get a $10 off coupon code signing up for the newsletter.
$300 + $30 shipping

They advised AMS this year and hinted at earlier vs later... so we will see.

Will you be able to use the ams with this? Like other printers

Unless your p1S running 24/7, I would get another AMS.
I've got an X1C and a P1S and two AMS. I've got both AMS going to the X1C, but honestly....I'm thinking of splitting them up. I keep meaning to do more hueforge or other 5+ color things but just never really get around to it.
So I think the question to ask yourself is what is the 2nd AMS for. If I split them it'll just be for general convenience.

I noticed the charge completed through my credit card company. It is not a hold and its not pending anymore.
Can't say I'm happy paying now for a printer I'm not getting shipped until the end of June.

How hard is it for beginners to get into 3d printing with one like this? I frequently order 3d items off of Etsy and I saw you can just buy files. Is it difficult to get into? Would this be a good option for a starter?

It's very easy to get into. You're better off getting a Bambu Labs printer as you don't have to wait 4 months for it

Thanks to you all that are preordering this. I really hope that gamble pays off. Personally, I'm waiting for real world reviews of this as well as the Artillery M1 Pro. My pessimistic side says these are too cheap for what they claim. That said, more competition is a win for consumers so I'm rooting for them.

Preliminary reviews are positive in terms of print quality and ease of use. It's definitely not as polished as Bambu Labs but the weak points, from what I saw, were not deal breaking.

I have a Mars Pro and was able to use it around 3 months with no issue, but then took a year long break from printing. Returned and found that it would no longer print. Based on multiple exchanges and working through their troubleshooting process, Elegoo deduced it was the light. So they sent me an unsoldered light with no board or anything. I sent them a picture to verify they wanted me to do the soldering and they said no and a few weeks later I receive a new control board for the light and another new light all attached together. At this point I have a couple of hours of time into troubleshotting and 6 weeks in back and forth. There's no instructions provided just a "look it up on youtube". I walk through the video and essentially have to tear the machine down and rebuild, checking I connect each wire throughout. Same issue. They say they want me to completely take the machine apart and record and take photos of each step while rebuilding it so they can determine the issue. I'll admit it took me a few hours to even perform the reinstall of the board and light because I was being so meticulous...so when I received their response...I advised them that I was not being paid for this and would not be considering their products in the future.

I still have no idea why it broke, it was sitting in the same place for a year. I have friends who have their products that use them for design and test prints before running off mass production. I'm sure many people have no problems and I have no problem with their ability to communicate, I've seen plenty of companies that won't even give the support, but I'm certainly not buying another product from them and will more than likely go with the Bambu printer if I go this route or consider a different brand if I return to resin.

Unrelated but can someone recommend any open source or good 3D designing tool. I have a 3D printer which my little one uses to make fun objects. He generally downloads them from thingiverse. But now he wants to make his own models on which I have no clue.

Tinkercad is pretty good for kids and adults and free. Watch a youtube video to learn quick.

Competing on price hardly seems like innovation. I'm certain the amount of shortcuts they took will show in customer frustration.
