You won't find any electric throw that lasts more than 2 years, usually before then. I use mine daily and every 6 months or so it dies, regardless of brands I've tried (Westinghouse, Sunbeam, Serta). The Serta one are incredibly soft, but that's it. There's very little to no fill in it so you can feel, and see, the wires inside. Makes it uncomfortable. Sunbeam and Westinghouse about comparable, I like the Westinghouse ones since it has more heating levels.
The way these are designed you will always be slowly burning up the wires the more you use it, turning up the heat level every couple months. You might like heat level 2 at first, but eventually will need to turn up to 3 to get the same level of heat. Every summer you'll find some for very cheap, and I buy 2 or 3 since I know I'll use them and also that they will fail.

One note, and I haven't tried this with sunbeam, but Westinghouse has a 1 year warranty, and when they have failed in that time then I have just sent a message to them and they send me a new one

How long do these things typically last? I've had terrible luck with them surviving even a month.

Everything I've ever bought from Kohls typically comes apart at the seams within a year

Suggest reading the reviews to get an idea of durability. Even with a warranty, it's frustrating to get something replaced if it only lasts a month or through the first wash.

I don't even wash them, I think my GF pulls at them and this ruins the wiring? Not sure.

Yeah i am lucky if they last the season but have taken advantage of the warranty to get replacements. They generally send a similar one.
