I really like thingino for de-China-fying cams, but it is so not for everyone, not yet anyway. Edit: I should mention though (for others reading) that quite a few models can be done with just an SD card, others with a USB A to A cable with an OTG adapter and software (cloner).
****EDIT: Actually no, you can flash it by shorting pins 5 and 6 on the flash chip as it boots as it turns out, which causes the flash to be in a state of accepting a new file, and a prepared fw file then flashes the chip from SD card. Details here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LchoSa5
As an aside: the L2 has the sc3338 sensor, which is capable of 3MP, not 4MP. So the extra 1MP claimed by LaView is either upscaling or marketspeak bs, take your pick heh. That said, still a solid value.
