This is targeted as a gaming mouse. If all anyone knows is Logi-Options+ or Ghub, one would think it's kinda cool and somewhat buggy.

But being "outdated" software doesn't mean it's worse for a gamer, or a CAD user storing keyboard-shortcuts into the local memory of a Logitech G13. The macro capability in "Logitech Gaming Software" (LGS) can capture/playback the _timing between keys- and the timing of the key holddown- to milliseconds.

The better (least-bugs) release of this unique/abandoned utility is named LGS_9.04.28_x64_Logitech.exe. One can also try LGS_9.02.65_x64_Logitech.exe. Just don't have both LGS and Ghub / Logi-Options installed, or else things break.

I have set all 3 hot-switched profiles on a wired version of G502 under LGS, but forum folks say the X versions are too new to be supported.

Edit: Official newer version is said to have issues. I have not tried it, YMMV:

Awesome mouse. I just picked this up for $40 from a previous slick deal (took 4 months to ship) but def worth it.

The only thing I dislike is it uses different Logitech desktop software than the wired mouse

I've been using the g502 since it came out , if you need wireless not a bad option , outdated software now , glitchy and sub par to modern mice in the market , 40$ wireless I would be in.

What would you recommend that has been more recently released but similar to this?

He's probably alluding to the G502 X Lightspeed (retail $140 [logitechg.com]) or the G502 X Plus (retail $160 [logitechg.com]). This mouse, the G502 Lightspeed (non-X), retails for $100 [logitechg.com], not $150 as shown here.

From what I understand, the difference between the X Lightspeed and the X Plus is the RGB lights on the Plus, and there may be some battery size differences, it's hard to tell.

And the connector area is shaped weird to only fit a few cables.

i still have one g604 in the box as a spare. The newer ones they skimped out on the middle scroll wheel. It is lighter and plastic. Still good though. My original one had double click issues so i bought the new actuators and soldered them on. Worked since so im all set lol. I just like this mouse and the side buttons.

I paid a technician to open end solder the Japan OMRON switches to fix the double click issue. Works like new now, and I can't use any other mice that don't have the same side buttons. Very versatile mouse for both work and game.

If you like an ergo design, look at the BenQ Zowie ECS-CW for medium-sized hands. I've tried G502, G Pro / Light, Basilisk, etc. and this was the most comfortable one for me. Price also hundred down to $99 from $130 on Amazon.

Or just make a G5 wireless. I got aG5 back in 2005 and it lasted me 10 years.

They've made nothing but bad succesors since. The g502 hero series is garbage, and the skates fall off in a few months

couldn't agree more. unfortunately the rubber on mine eventually gave up while still under warranty, since they discontinued the G604, they upgraded me to thie G502 X Lightspeed for free and it's a decent mouse but I still miss my G604. I was going to try to peel the rest of the rubber off and use some sort of grip tape on it, but since I got a Power Play mousepad that keeps this mouse charged 24/7, I never got around to doing that

Logitech's customer support is incredible though

ok I have the x plus model and it's amazing, it keeps a charge for a long time in between charges and yes it uses usb-c and it's the best shaped g502 I've ever used and I love it

I've has this mouse for a while. It's nice and comfortable, but the fact the default DPI buttons are next to the left mouse button make it infuriating to use at times. You can reassign the buttons, but they tend to reset to default after updates/changes. Going back to my trusty MX Master 3S as soon as I can.
