The 40v batteries from greenworks are terrible. All 3 of my 40v batteries no longer hold a charge after only 3 years of occasional use.

Tempting. The battery alone is worth it. I already have these items.

I've been using mine since 2017 and my 4.0 Ah battery is still good. My 2.0 Ah battery doesn't do much at all though in my 21" mower.

The 13" trimmer has a wheel that helps with that. But I switched to a hard blade edger about 4 years ago and it's not comparable--so much better.
https://www.homedepot.com/p/RYOBI...lsrc=aw.dsI got this Ryobi on some deal (It wasn't this high).

I ordered 2 to get free shipping. I can gift one to a friend or family member. I have the 40v trimmer, blower, hedge trimmer and pole saw. They are amazing. Mainly getting mine for battery and back ups.

Man, that's weird. I wonder if temperature did them in? My Greenworks 40v batteries that are 8+ years old are holding up OK, but they are always stored indoors. Mix of 2Ah and 4Ah batteries. Relatively light use though.
My green works 40v mower battery lost half its output after one season. Probably because it was stored outdoors through the winter. There's plenty of functional third party batts for cheap thankfully.

Tempting for me too, except I have 80V batteries, blower, and mower. I also have a gas and a corded string trimmer.

They have a 3 year warranty, contact them and see if they'll honor it.

I have been in the 40v GreenWorks ecosystem for years now. I had a set of 4ah that I have used for roughly 5 years, and it is still going strong. I do not recommend anything smaller than that, especially if you are mowing. I rotate mine and make sure to keep them inside in the winter. I have no issues and would recommend this line. That said, I recently switched all my power tools to the Greenworks 24v line. If I had a smaller yard, I would consider using only 24v tools, if only to have one line.
Greenworks cs is good, and I have had no issues getting several replacements over the years. Just make sure to register right away. I hope that helps!
