Spectrum sucks and my bill keeps increasing due to falling off promos. currently 60, but increasing to 85 in august. Absolutely absurd.
I even gave them a last chance by speaking to a rep, if they can give me some discounts or i'll leave. they wouldnt budge, so here i am.
Extremely rural area, houses average miles apart, no cities. T-Mobile came into the area for the first time a couple years ago. Their equipment is on the Verizon tower over 10 miles away. Verizon only offers band 13, does about 10Mbps max here. T-Mobile has no usable signal without a roof antenna (unlike Verizon). Does about 130Mbps near the tower, and about 100 here.
Internet options here for comparison -
There are no land Internet options here since dialup. Up until a year and a half ago I was using Verizon. Fiber is supposed to be coming this summer, if it matches town it will be 100Mbps at about $100 (the speed is what the funding states). Low demand area for Starlink, $90/month, and $100 discount for signing up. And it averages over 200Mbps.
I'm actually using a Metro phone SIM in a router, my understanding is it's the same priority as T-Mobile Home. The router was $450 and the upgraded antenna I needed, since my old one didn't support T-Mobile, was $400. At the time they didn't offer home Internet here. There is no noticeable fluctuation in speed with the time of day here (no congestion).
What router are you using for Metro phone SIM? I thought we were out of luck with their sims being device locked but I didn't challenge that notion since I haven't really seen anyone talk about it. I do use the common apn changes to allow unlimited hotspot from my tablet line.
It is showing now on my end
I told them your offer terms doesn't say that, but they told me it's only applicable for amplified. It was told by messaging team and tforce from X.

You have to change the IMEI, which some people may not like doing. I got a Metro phone to test service in general (service doesn't work at all most places I am 99% of the time, as in not enough signal to lock on), it was $40 for the phone and first month, using its IMEI number.
Same thing should work with the home service plan but I don't know if they are checking gps location, might be an issue. Their business Internet was $60 last I looked, didn't check if they currently have a rebate, but it officially supports BYOD, so no workaround needed. The band and tower locks would be handy some places, their included devices are limited.
Thought about a cheaper plan. But I'm kinda holding out until I see what the fiber looks like. I'll have to get it installed or it will never be here, but I'd rather not pay double for nearly the same speed (lower pings possibly), and I've had 0 outages with this.
And thought about signing up officially for the rebate, since service is available now, but kind of a (small) hassle for possibly only a few months of service.

Thanks for the details. I might try the tablet IMEI if I hone in on one if those cheaper routers.
The home service is/ or will be gps locked very soon I believe. I'm in this thread because it looks like a good deal for setting up a family member vs having service installed.
Your comment caught my eye because I'm on Metro byod unlimited with the extra $20 unlimited tablet line (but hotspot limited to 2gb unless apns are altered and it's used during travel. Would be nice to have a dedicated router instead for use.
I still have an offer on the card portal, so I'll probably try that tonight. Sucks to lose out on $200 because of their BS but I can deal. I don't think that higher offer will be back concurrently.

I was forgetful, been a year and a half since I set it up. For Metro, IMEI, ttl of 64 (hotspot bypass), and set the APN to match the device (mine is fast.metropcs.com). Tablet might match those settings.
