Yes they shed, but I believe that's because they are cotton and not plastic, which is why I like them, they absorb water, not just move it around.
I love hotel towels but I'm not yet prepared to pay $50-$100 a piece. Not yet, but closer everyday.
I've been in hotels with:
Crappy towels.
OK towels
Good towels
Fantastic towels
Saying that they are "hotel style" is meaningless.
