Have it, love it. Simple as it gets. Been using for 5 years. Think I paid 10 bucks for it at a Winn Dixie

These cheap rice cookers are all pretty similar. They do a decent job at cooking rice. They are great if you are on a budget or don't make rice that often. It definitely beats doing rice on the stovetop

When I started renting my Florida home my management company provided a list of items to have in the kitchen, a rice cooker was on the list.

Right! I only buy stainless steel rice cookers. Those with Teflon coating gets corroded over time and the teflon gets into food

You are 100 percent correct. But may I point out that Teflon is the least chemically reactive substance we've ever created and that eating it upwards of 25% in animals as a meal substitute has shown no effect. The one weakness is heat over 500 degrees Fahrenheit and this rice cooker cannot reach those temperatures. Also they come with plastic paddle spoons so you never use metal and scratch the coating in the first place. This has been my TEd Talk.

This reminded me that we need to replace ours... because the non-stick coating is flaking off.

We started using it when we moved in to an apartment together and its honestly worked as well or better than any of the uber-fancy zojiruishi, cuckoo, tiger, etc. cookers. Rice comes out just like I want it every time so long as I wash the excess starch off and add the correct amount of water. I can even drop Chinese bacon, salt duck, etc. in there for a really tasty flavorful rice dinner.

My advice though, skip this and spend a few extra bucks for a cooker with a stainless steel inner pot. We've gotten rid of all the teflon and non-stick coated pots and pans in favor of cast iron and stainless steel. Potentially looking to get some carbon steel or a stainless skillet. All the non-stick stuff wears out sooner than you'd expect no matter what the manufacturer claims, including hexclad and its clones. Don't want anymore of that stuff getting into our food and or filling more landfills with crap pushed by fancy marketing.

Manufacturers keep trying to find the next best thing and sell you some awesome product with "new technology", but most just ends up being the same old garbage with a fancy coating.

Amazon has this one for under $30. Since we're only getting rid of ours because of the nasty coating flaking off, I expect that this one will last us until the end of time: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BT61C...e_0_0&th=1
