28 is too wide. It's better to have that extra 4mm on wide end then telephoto end.

You mean too narrow. But I agree 28-75 is not nearly as useful as 24-70. The vast majority of photographers won't notice the difference between 70 and 75 (you could always cheat and crop in a little if that's really the framing you're after), but you'll likely frequently have trouble trying to fit everything into the frame even at 24mm. And the 4mm jump up to 28mm is not insignificant.

That said, I think the Sony 24-105 f/4 which should cost about the same as this is a more versatile lens. I'm grossly generalizing here but the 70 to 105 increase at the upper end is very significant and probably more useful to most users (ESPECIALLY hobbyists). I have both (mark 1 of this Sigma lens) and this is true for me as a professional in a commercial setting. Despite having f/2.8, you really don't want to open it up that wide most of the time.

For the half the price it's a tough call, gains are always diminishing as you spend more. If you shoot wide a lot between 24-28mm, then the Sigma is worthwhile. It's a chonkier lens vs the Tamron, a bit shorter I think, but wider and heavier. Quality is stunning though.

Look at a few online galleries and decide, they're both great, but only can decide if it's worth the price increase.

Tamron is More compact and lighter, thats why I prefer it since I tend not to carry any other lens. Just A7iii and Tamron 2875. I shoot for fun not professional. Thanks for your input.

Verison I was my first lens when I switched to Sony back in 2021. I bought version II immediately selling my version I last year. My 24-70mm will always be a Sigma.

I ordered a camera through greentoe in January. Offer was accepted on a Saturday. Camera was shipped on Monday, and I had it in my hand by Tuesday morning. I think a lot of it depends on the specific vendor that accepts the offer.
