Will this work in as a Proxmox server? I had this impression that Proxmox likes Intel only.
Not sure where you heard that, and a quick google search would answer your question. Unless you have specific concerns with the mobo and X870 specifically, which you'll have to do some preliminary research (and which I'd be surprised if it were a problem), there is absolutely zero concern with Ryzen 9/8/7xxx series on PVE — this would make an absolute beast of a system.

You can get this board in black right now for $150 on Amazon through a 3rd party. Says only 19 left in stock at the moment though.

That's a good deal. There are 18 left in stock as of now. I haven't bought one yet.

edit: I ordered it. I can always return it if I change my mind.

I was pretty set on building an Intel system but I keep on watching the micro Center deals and they make me jealous. I wish that I had one near. I have a very powerful power supply from my build 8 years ago that's still incredible and a great graphics card so I just need m.2, RAM and processor.

Because it's Amazon, I don't think I'm super concerned. They usually take care of their customers pretty well. Do you know something that I don't know?

Just a heads up, the memory (Model PVVR532G600C36K) isn't on the compatibility list (https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherbo...ort-memsup). Will probably work fine, but I've made the mistake of not checking memory compatibility for a Gigabyte board. Memory worked fine, but the Gigabyte RGB software didn't like it.
Check for bios updates once in a while. Had similar issues in the past with z790 board and the ram defaulted to stock speeds instead of xmp. Forgot about it for a year and recently did the bios updates. Now I'm on xmp settings. I don't game or do much intensive tasks to notice the difference, but feels good 😆 I'm also liking the new UEFI looks.

I really appreciated the convenience of having RAM on Gigabyte's QVL list. It's the first time I've seen an AMD board load an XMP profile.

Paid $60 more for the X870E version of this motherboard and faster 6400 Corsair DDR5 with RGB. That was a better deal than this.

Yikes. Never, ever buy PC components from a third party on Amazon.

You'll be lucky to get your refund back within a month, if at all, when (not if) something goes wrong with it.

building a new PC for kids nextdoor and wanted to do something good around $600 to $800 just for the motherboard/RAM and NVidia graphics for gaming?

Any suggestion would be helpful.

Worst design ever, not to mention their service department is by far the worst in the industry! You'd have to give up the 16x speed on the PCIe lane for your GPU if you want to use more than 1x nvme slot.

That's what they get for price gouging. I won't be surprised if the same thing happens to Nvidia soon if there is slightly better-performing competition.
The issue with NVIDIA is that they don't care about the consumer market much anymore. Nearly all production is going to AI, Datacenter, Professional Cards and any dies left they use for consumer cards.

While I'm not an Intel Fan....I'm rooting for them in the GPU. The Arc B580 can compete with the lower tier AMD/NVIDIA at a list price of $249, but unfortunately its hard to fine and rarely if ever at list. If Intel can start pumping these cards out at a better rate it may help supply issues with the other vendors.

You are right, I got scammed and couldn't get my refund for two months. I'm never buying PC components from a 3rd party seller on Amazon.
