Just FYI, if you give these to kids, they can seriously burn themselves if they touch the lens. I have two of these and they get extremely hot at the magnifying lens end and I learned the hard way. And don't set them down turned on face down. They will burn whatever you put it on. (again, learned that the hard way).

I am wondering if this one also can take 18650 recharable battery instead of 3 AAA battery.
I have a few 18650 batteries. The description does mention that it can take " a single rechargeable battery", but didn't mention the size .

Thanks for the warning!

In for this deal - you cannot have enough flashlights! I love the fact that they come with lanyards as I usually hang flashlights in areas I am usually needing them in, like the basement, attic, garage, office, etc. I will also use neodymium magnets to attach them to, for example, a metal lamp column in my office so they're always where I need them. I have a split level house with 5 levels so having multiple cheap flashlights stored in different areas eliminates the time spent in remembering where I last left a flashlight and trudging up and down the stairs to fetch it.

If that lesson involves third degree burns or a house burning down and your kids or other family dead maybe a warning about reasonable safety considerations shouldn't be so casually dismissed like it is meaningless. Do hope you are not a gun or car owner.

Again the light takes 18650 and they can explode and burn. I have had other electronics melt in my hand when shorted even when running standard alkalines. First link is standard batteries

According to records kept by the Texas State Fire Marshal's Office, batteries are to blame for 20 residential home fires in Texas from 2011 to 2015.
When people start using 18650s and up that opens up a whole new world of possible burns, fires and explosions along with deadly and lethal toxins released in gas form as you can see below. One breath of that can be deadly.

Why is this news to you is my question? You should not have to be spoon fed information as it is freely and readily available to you. How you missed thousands of lithium battery fires I haven't a clue. They go off multiple times a day all around the country.

Ok but we've been talking about the dangers of these for years including them blowing up in laptops. 20 house fires in all of america isn't alot, in comparison there are about 600 propane tank explosions a year and those are considered pretty safe. I've been using unprotected cells I recovered for almost 10 years now without incident, I also try not to let them drain too much but I only use them in flashlights, and ocassionaly a modified milwakee hand held screw driver. Acceptable risk. I've also soldered a lot of them to repair battery packs, which is more risky, so now I bought a spot welder for it.

Haha! And this one, too for $7.99, (also 18650 capable) but it includes 6 AAA batteries and provides an optimistic claim "Boasting 2000 Lumens of brightness": http://amazon.com//dp/B09PMKBHF1

Got mine today, 18650 battery works fine. It is a little loose as the dia is less than 3 AAA module. 18650 measured 3.8V (2000 mAh) and the AAA measured 3.9V (Ni Mh rechargeable, 800mAh), and the brightness was the same. Teh 1860 will last much longer due to the almost 2.5 times capacity.
Shoot me any questions.

It was twenty fires in Texas if we extrapolate that out I would guess the alkaline battery risk is near the propane tank one.

If you knew about them for years why did you ask me to do the work and link? You could have just conceded the point before we had to go there.

It is not me jumping in and exaggerating the risk you and others keep asking while denying it. I just ask that we do not dismiss it when we even have a user of them here saying they burnt his kid. He did not say don't buy and I did not either. When people told him to basically shut up is when I got in. Dismissing it like it is not a consideration is the problem I have with the general conversation here.

There really should have been no response to my first comment as I said absolutely nothing untrue, false, misleading, exaggerated or confrontational. For some reason that set some off into attack and debunk mode. I'm being reasonable and having reasonable conversation others are not.

You and everybody can take whatever risk you want just like I do but acting like they are not there makes no sense and if somebody mentions them it does not make them your enemy.

seriously, $6 is about all they're worth. Fine for $3 ea, but nothing to get excited about IMO. Also, just have to love the "upgraded XML T6 LED beads!" spec blurb (in the thumbnail pic for their 1st video.). As if using a 10+ year old LED was any kind of bonus, except over whatever cheap !#%!# they were using previously.
"Upgraded" would be a switch that turns on and off without all that seizure-inducing-blinking crap you have to go through just to turn the damn thing off. LOL!

Couldn't resist more short money flashlights. Ordered and delivered in less than 24 hours. These too will end up being "borrowed" and never returned by my family, just like those that came before.

I no longer see the 40% discount as of 11pm PST so I assume this deal is dead.

For deals that are about $2 more, read messages on the previous page that show flashlights with similar specs and similar thousands of reviews (mostly positive)--one that includes 6 AAA batteries, so that may be in effect the same cost if you factor that in.

I love how every flashlight is TACTICAL now.

Yeah I see cops and military carrying this brand all the time.
