The only time you might be spending too much money are on premium brands and imports, where the other supermarkets are unlikely to sell a comparable product. That I can see as a valid argument, but also many people, including myself, don't mind spending a bit more for quality organics, imported Asian/European products, or fresh kitchen and bakery products that taste way better than the crap you'd find at Wal-Mart.
First all off all these discounts are manufacturer rebates .( Costco only mark down clearance items ). 99% items at Costco have mark up averaging 13% 10-15% mostly except for greenmade products.
The prices you see are manufacturer cost*1.13, so if you see price increased it's due to manufacturer cost , not Costco increasing their % profit margin.

You CAN spend less at the supermarkets through a combination of buying sale items and/or couponing properly
You GET a better deal at sams/costco on a per cost basis, but you will always spend more for the quantity you get. That's great if you use it all before it goes bad, but not so great if you don't need the quantity.
I could buy stuff at the supermarket and spend significantly less each week and have less waste on many items, but id have to buy sale items or deal with coupons.
That being said, I still find Sams club is better for everyday items and food, but Costco is better for higher end products, clothing and premium products.
I don't need to spend $6 for seedless cucumbers at costco when they are $2.96 at sams club.
Costco has made almost every item like minimum $10 products and many items are actually not a great deal. Add in the fact I can't scan and go and have to show 50 thousand people my card makes it annoying.
Unfortunately, while everyone wants to tout about how good costco treats its employees and pays them well, that cost just comes back to you the consumer. Eventually all people will make decisions with their wallet - maybe not today, but eventually. Only takes one recession for a place like costco to suddenly be in the negative because people go to the place that is cheaper when they have no job or money.
TU, appreciate you posting, but that site sure is frustrating to use on the phone. Anyone else try to zoom in and repeatedly get some snitch article popup…
I think I'll wait for another source.

Citrus was easily 20% more expensive in FL than northeast. And tropical fruit prices were comical to my expectation.
I did like some variety in products that are a bit tropical. Like banana chips, guava stuff etc.
I wish they would just do it for the entire month but I think they like that gap week to make more money without sales
Finally Premeir Protein on sale. Its been ages, have had to trek to BJs or Sams for it. Though I prefer Fairlife
