No. These are the best in-ear ANC earphones, bar none, and I've tried them all, including more over-the-ear headphones, too, than I care to admit. I prefer to use these on planes than any over-the-ear headphones or in-ear models. They're just amazing.
I have the APP 2nd gen, and they're... alright. They have that seamless connectivity thing and that's great, but when it comes to ANC? No comparison.
I've had since release. I quite like them. I've had Airpod, Airprod 2, and Airpod 2 Pros. All of them fell out of my ears sitting in bed. These are amazing for staying in my ears and going on runs with out having to put on inserts etc.
Good audio quality, good gestures for changing modes to disable/enable ANC. Very happy with them.

how do these compare to airpods? open to trying new ones
They fit better than the airpods, but the downsides are huge. I posted in a comment above.

You cited a lot of their upsides and I agree. They stay in way better than ipods. They have a ton of downsides too. I had a nightmare trying to get them, a: connected to devices, and b: stay connected. Also I lose stuff a lot, and the airpods blow these away for "Find my."

Do they seal properly? I've tried AirPods Pro and Sony's and they have a pass through hole for whatever reason, maybe pressure relief.I want ANC and a fantastic physical seal.
They are way better than AP Pros at seal. Everything else is way worse.

I agree that they have the best ANC, slightly better than the AirPods pro2 and Sony XM5. They fit my ears pretty nice too. However the Bluetooth connection is horrendous and every time I put them on, there's a good 1/3 odds that one side won't connect. I need to put it back into the case and reconnect and that often won't work either. I already had a replacement unit and both units have this problem.

I've not had that happen a single time. I did have issues with their predecessor but not the Ultras. I use them with my iPhone and iPad often.

I got these as a warranty replacement for QC earbuds II. Bose needs to fire their head of connectivity/Bluetooth hardware design team. This and QC 2 both have excellent ANC (literally the best in class) and sound profile has a rich bass (not everyone likes it though). But both suffer from connectivity issues. It starts great but after few months will not stay connected no matter how many times you reset everything and troubleshoot. Will also struggle if you are in an environment where there are lots of devices nearby like airport lounges. Could have easily been the AirPods killer. I had to stick to my AP2 for this horrible connectivity issues with bose. Even Samsung folks reported connectivity issues in Reddit so it is not iOS specific.

Edit: I should also mention that many experienced connectivity issues while using the Bose app myself included. If you pair the device just by using the bluetooth settings it seems to work fine afterwards. But you need to set up anc and sound profiles using the bose app for the first time and delete it afterwards if that makes sense.

I have these, in fact, I have two. I'm a big Bose fanboy. But, I can tell you this one isn't their best work. Both earbuds I own have the same issues - connectivity problems and static sound when audio isn't playing. It appears to be a design flaw.

Buy at your own risk. Most overpriced/overrated headphones on the market. I've had countless issues in the 2 years I've owned mine. This is coming from a diehard Bose fanatic

Not the best bar none. Technics is the best bar none. Far superior connection. Audio, and now comfortable anc. Not popular but you'll be VERY happy
Which Technics (model no.) are you talking about?

This is exactly my experience. Terrible connectivity and half the the time the bose app says the aren't connected, but they are connected to Bluetooth. And the sounds periodically becomes weird. Not sure how to explain it, but it goes from sounding great to having a very tinny sound and then back.

While they are comfortable and the ANC is great, it's not worth dealing with the connectivity issues and the random sound issues.

I've had similar connectivity issues at first. But then I turned off multipoint connectivity and the Bluetooth issues seem to have gone away. Yes, it is annoying that I can't use this feature but definitely not a deal breaker. When the Bose app says they're not connected, I just kill the app and open it up again. Not the best, but again, not a deal breaker.

Will sams club potentially have same deal? Shows sams as an option to claim gifcard. Just wondering.

You sure that's not just the ANC when no song is playing? With ANC you'll hear some noise on every model of headphone if your hearing is still good. The latest model of headphones I've really noticed it on are the Pixel Buds Pro 2s, but I can still hear it on AirPod Pros and Samsung Bud Pros. I've not tried the Bose in this deal.
