Cost. Imagine people with McJobs trying to figure out how to properly fold an egg. That would lead to waste, which cost McDonalds money. The comment you're responding to has the details slightly off. The "fake" eggs are the folded ones. So basically any bread except the McMuffin uses "fake" ones. You can ask for "round egg" on anything and they'll crack and grill a real egg. Otherwise its that folded scrambled shelf stable egg product crap from a big plastic jug.

Me too! I used get an egg white McMuffin with tomato and sub the Canadian ham for bacon at no extra charge. 2 for $4 or $5 breakfast deal back in the day (3 years ago lol)

If you have the McD app, they basically perpetually have an offer for any of their breakfast sandwiches for $2.50 with no strings attached. The other ones are so much better than an egg mcmuffin that I recommend the $1.50 cost increase to get basically anything else.

I'll definitely be doing this but I wish they had the Sausage McGriddle with egg and cheese for a $1. Once I tasted the McGriddle I never went back to the McMuffin.
