Tried a bit in Bestbuy, and it's still too heavy when used as a tablet.
It's a great PC though.

I'd add that they're good laptops for table use, but terrible to use on your lap.

Dear Microsoft,

This is to be used as a portable computer, yeah? Well, when I travel on long flights and try to get something done, I am not able to use it on the plane with the keyboard attached, as there is not enough space for the kickstand and the keyboard at the same time. The touchscreen keyboard is not it and won't ever be. Can you somehow modify the design so the keyboard can somehow hold the surface in place without the kickstand being popped out? For this reason, my Surface Pro has been a bit useless on long flights.

Also, I'm pretty sure your sales numbers are showing. You tried to mimic Apple by going away from X86 processors. Well, those are Apple laptops, no one really uses them. No company really uses them for any type of productivity, those are just pretty girls with no skills sitting there looking pretty. Apple MacBooks won't be here today and maybe even Apple as a company if they never had the iPhone. I'm pretty sure I'll be attacked by the folks below. But it's like McDonald's going and changing their recipe to their Big Mac's. I would suggest to save your Surface brand it took you some 9/10 years to build, I would suggest having 2 different versions on your next iteration, a ARM version for those who travel and need the all-day battery and mainly for web work and a version for the rest of us. And besides, the Intel Core Ultra series and AMD AI series support your AI strategy and their battery life is pretty amazing too!

Best,
The Rest of Us

Yeah, I had one since 2017 and thought I'd occasionally use it as a tablet. I never really did and the pen was too slow for Photoshop. Then I use it as a laptop and you always have to have the kickstand out. It sucks in that form. I wouldn't buy another.

No, I don't fly coach because I'm 6'4" and I don't fit. I used to fly coach 20 years ago, but the damn airlines keep stuffing more seats into the same space.

Using a laptop on your lap is terrible ergonomics and should be avoided unless you want neck pain. Using a laptop on a desk is bad ergonomics too. Surface Pro keyboard works detached which is a good option so you can raise the screen using a iPad stand and have the keyboard detached.

Agreed it's best avoided, but when I was living in New York, I used to get some work done on the subway this way. Didn't cause me any issues if I kept it to 30 mins.

1. Why do people buy a Tablet and try to use it as a Laptop, then complain??

There's a reason MS sells the Surface Laptop....

2. Overpriced for an ARM-based (smartphone) CPU tablet.
Like prior SD deals on the Surface Pro X, wait until BestBuy has open boxes below $400!

3. This is NOT 100% PC COMPATIBLE because it doesn't use an Intel/AMD cpu.

Ie. Can't even run Fortnite.

See other threads or search for details.
Otherwise, surface pro 9 or 10 Intel version better.

4. Surface Pros launch yearly. So those that can't stomach even $400 for a Tablet? Ebay etc used a few models older. $100~ can get you a working Pro.

5. Surface keyboard with the Alcantara polyester blend fabric are the worst for durability and cleanliness. EBay etc have examples of how junky they get.

Covid worriers? There's NO way to properly disinfect Alcantara overlaid on electronics.

Fortnite? I don't think there are too many pre-teen kids hanging out on this forum.

There's a reason it's so cheap - and it ain't 'cuz it's good.
