Curious too. I'm almost set on buying a dehumidifier from Costco just because they fail so frequently and I can swap it out.

I've used Allstate claim in the past for earbuds. They offered me three different replacements but none of them were noise cancelling like the ones that failed were. After declining those and stating my reason, they just sent me a check for full purchase price of the earbuds. Pretty painless.

Also, to add, GE has been the most reliable out of the four brands of Dehumidifiers I've owned. a Midea refurb from Woot failed after a little over a year and the same with an Insignia. Frigidaire/Whirlpool have been good. Currently I have an Amazon Basics one that's been trouble free for about 1.5-2 years but I made sure to buy the extended warranty from Amazon.

You know all the brands you mentioned are made by Midea?

Maybe the Insignia and Amazon Basics but I can't imagine the GE and Frig/Whirlpool are? Can you provide a source?

I'm your source. 30yrs in appliance sales and service. Your big mfgs don't build anything small or inexpensive, all outsourced. Dehu's, a/c's, hoods, 18" dishwashers, microwaves, disposals, compact laundry, small freezers, fridges under 18cu ft... The list goes on.

Any chance of recommending
a make/model that's built by Midea, but offers the better reliability for the money?

unfortunately the quality of the compressor and the refrigerant is not as good as the old days. Our staff buys the cheapest they can find on closeout somewhere and buys the longest extended warranty they can find. Last dehu went 5.5 years, best I've had in over 10 years. Most of the time 2-3 yrs is all they last. My company has 5 locations and we do not sell them. After we get them from the distributors, we cannot compete against all the rebranded Chinese units coming over (same goes for a/c's).

Ya , just ebay on refurbs gives u square warranty… so you dont want a refurb that has blacked out the serial.
