I attempted to use the 25% off battery coupon - it appears that it can only apply to one of the battery packs in an order, instead of to all of the battery packs. Seemed to apply to the most expensive battery pack, at least. Anyone get the same experience?

Remember to recycle a battery first. You get a 25% off battery purchase coupon, then you use it to purchase $66.67 worth of batteries, which brings the total down to $50.
you only get 25% for one item. Not the total amount.

Yes. Confirmed. The 25% off battery coupon applies to only one battery pack (the highest priced) in the order.

Only if Staples Rewards points are more useable for you than Office Depot rewards points. In my case, yes. YMMV.

What do you buy with the points? Most items are overpriced and price matching is a hassle (hit or miss depending on the store employee)

There are some consistently low-priced, high value laptops by HP & Lenovo at Staples. Occasionally you can find lower prices elsewhere, but Staples low-end laptop deals are solid.

That being said, I noticed that their recent HP laptop deal ($279.99) went from using a Intel Core i3-1215U processor to a more asthmatic Core i3-N305, and an HD (instead of full HD) screen.

The laptop with a full HD screen and i3-1215U processor is another HP for $299.99. No backlit keyboard, but a basic 8GB of RAM and 256GB of SSD storage that'll be more than enough for web surfing, writing papers, etc.

No because Staples rounds DOWN to the nearest dollar for rewards paid back. I PM'd to WM for $16.64 yesterday on a 24-pack of AA ,so I lost the $0.64 worth of points. All of Staples batteries in-store prices end in .99. There it's really like paying a dollar for the batteries. At OD you get the full amount you paid back in rewards.

Neither place pays you back the tax.
So if you PM for a better price you save on your out of pocket amount, on taxes, and likely less loss for the cents amount over the dollar amount for Staples.

Staples (officially) does not match S&S pricing, but if you get a careless cashier it could happen.

So, this is essentially cash/credit only? For example, if I only use rewards points, it doesn't sound like I'll get the bonus?

You will not get rewards points when you buy with rewards points. Must pay out of pocket.
