That managed version also comes with the benefit of telling you the speed of the connection (10M, 100M, 1G) from the two LEDs per port, whereas this unmanaged version with one LED per port does not.

Yikes that's some serious cost cutting. Unmanaged 1Gb switches have had 2 leds for years
Is this hot swappable? I need to add this to a network without turning anything off or resetting anything
Yes. Anything you disconnect to reconnect to this switch is going to lose connectivity at least momentarily. I can't speak for every OS installed on the devices you're disconnecting and reconnecting, but most operating systems should be able to handle a network disconnect and reestablish a connection when the network cable is re-attached.
I'd make sure you have the switch powered up and running, and have the uplink to the rest of your network established before connecting anything to it - you can look at your router's DHCP reservation table to make sure the switch has a valid IP before connecting anything to it, which should minimize disconnect time.
EDIT: My mistake, an unmanaged switch won't have an IP address.
Prices are dropping because of 2.5gbps and 10gbps. The managed switch isn't much more than this for those network DIY'ers
Prices have been coming down like crazy especially for 2.5G switches. I'm all for it. Recently updated some 2.5G switches and buying 2.5 NIC cards. Doubling speed at the current prices without rerunning wires is a no brainer
Warranty sucks you pay shipping, which ends up being > value of switch. Never again after 2 died.
Good luck finding consumer grade networking equipment with a good warranty lol. You really expect them to pay for a label when a label cost the same as the equipment?
