I have an IPS and a VA monitor.

I agree IPS has slightly better sharpness and fine detail, but the contrast of VA is worth more to me. For text based work IPS is nice, but for everything else I prefer VA and honestly for text the difference isn't night and day unless you're absurdly close to the screen.

OLED prices are coming down fast enough I plan on replacing the VA, but it's still at least 2x as expensive as a good VA.

I see people saying IPS or nothing on other threads but this is a great deal and it'd go perfectly with my 7900 XTX. Is VA really that bad, mostly for gaming?

Never understood the VA hate. I typically play in a room with curtains up and I couldn't stand the colors of my IPS monitor. The VA darkness is super rich in comparison and the latency felt identical to me (ps5 120hz only).

In order of preference it's OLED, VA, then IPS. I would take higher contrast ratio over wider viewing angle any day.

Not all VA panels are bad. A whole lot of them have dark image smearing though somehow Samsung managed to get theirs to not not have that issue according to Hardware Unboxed (now called Monitors Unboxed), at least that was the conclusion I learned a couple years back when I was shopping for monitors. I don't know if this LG has that same tech that Samsung used. Probably not. I would see if they have a review of this model (or of a model that shares the same panel) before jumping on it.

On my desk I have 27" 1440 ISP mounted at the lower position and a 32" 1440 VA mounted directly above it. One is for fast paced games, the ISP. The other is for watching media and RPG games, the VA. I didn't think ISP was all that great, but the difference in how fluid motion is on fast games cannot be explained. It is so much better than VA. But the deep blacks of a VA cannot be explained in relation to an ISP. Get one of each and next to one another. You'll see.

Looks like a 4k version of my LG 32GN600.

I have both and if I were forced to choose I'd probably pick my VA for the slightly better contrast. Both are great thought and after adjustments they are almost identical. IMO the overall quality of the monitor is more important than panel type. Bad VA may be worse than bad IPS.

I just pulled a trigger on one. IPSs vary in quality as do VAs. LG has a good history making good monitors and TVs. So, I expect to not be disappointed with the quality.

2k vs 4k. I'd go 4k every day for a 32" screen.

I would disagree on generalizing like this, as it can be a very personal type of preference.
For example, for me Flat screen IPS, Curved VA ... And NO OLED whatsoever... Call me crazy, but trust me I tested them all and for my setting, I am pretty sure I am not missing much with OLED that will burn in and don't feel like paying hundreds of $ for a solid model that has great reviews
