If you would like to continue to use this device prior to it unlocking the best route is to untie the device from its metro account created when paying the first month of flex plus ($75) plan by either 'switching devices' or porting the # out to a cheap service. Otherwise the device will remained tied to the original metro count until the grace period, 30 days after service ended, expires. Then you can use it on the $25/month bring your own device plan with metro or use on an existing plan.
It's better to get the Cricket deal which would allow the phone to be unlocked in 6 months.
I'm not going to spend 175 and leave the phone in the closet for 365 days.
6 months of active service costs more than 12 months of in the closet.

The phone will be locked for 2 years.

Comes out to $275+ Tax lame...
I'm already paying visible $25 a month so my six months costs would be $150.
If I get Cricket with S24FE I will do the following:
1. Port out from Visible
2. 99+120 and then downgrade to $30 plan. (I rarely use more than 5GB/month anyway)
Total costs=99+120+30x4=339 for 6 months
3. Port back to Visible back to $25/month
So total costs would be $339-$150=$189 and I will have the phone unlocked free and clear by 6 months instead of 1 year.
Yes it does cost $14 more but I think it's worth it for not having the phone locked for 365 days.
Technically a better plan is to get the locked phone and trade-up with Samsung or Best Buy.
In that case maybe going with Metro would be a bit better. (175 vs 219)
The $175 for unlocked S24 FE after 365 days cost more than $175 because you have to factor into the costs of paying for another provider.
On top of that the value of S24FE would drop significantly after 1 year. You might as well sell the locked phone on eBay for more money back.
I've had Xfinity mobile for years, but that's why I dont do their deals. They lock the phones to the network until 24 monthly bill credits.
