Some towns. It's not universal. Freaking stupid but my town requires it. We use to take wagons out west and now we have to ask for permission to put something in our own yards. It's ridiculous.
I have a much larger version of this same shed. Got it from home depot and it arrived on a pallet delivered by flatbed. Many of the reviews talked about how it took months and at least two people to build. Yes this is smaller so should be less difficult but it is the same basic design and will still be a project. Based on how intense the reviews were about the difficulty of assembly I ended up paying home depot an extra $500 assembly fee which I was on the fence about because it felt lazy and that's a lot of money to me. In the end it took two full 8-9 hour days for a pro to build it plus had to order some extra parts from Lifetime and another 4 or so hours a couple weeks later to finish it up. It looked like a miserable job tbh and I no longer question the HD assembly fee. Worth every penny

btw do be aware it also needs a wood or concrete base, not included. I already had a concrete slab in the back yard that worked.

I have this shed, built it about 4 months ago. I think its a great value. Built it solo took about 8 hours. Sure someone else could do it a little faster.

How large were the boxes? Trying to figure out if it'll fit in my Prius. It's a hatchback so I actually can fit a lot.

What did you do for a foundation?

I can almost guarantee it will not fit. I have a smaller shed that is similar to this and did not fit in my Kia Telluride. I had to take it out of the boxes to get it to fit

A shed this small would not require a permit in most areas (check your local zoning for max square footage of unpermitted out buildings) In my area anything 200sq ft and up requires a permit, but that is much larger than this shed

Keep in mind if you're part of a HOA their rules would be in addition to local municipal zoning and can sometimes be very restrictive

I built a wooden base using 2"x6" pressure treated lumber and sheets of plywood in So Cal last year where it doesn't rain alot nor snow. Cost $200 including deck screws. Holding up great for almost a year. It was a 8x10 and a 8x14 shed. I am a DIYer and still took 3-4 days. Panels are hard to align at times. Building the wooden base was the easy part. Just fyi.

Depends on the HOA. Townhouses generally don't allow any tall structures over 6ft. Detached homes are more lenient, but some can be really uptight like demanding a certain material (wood only) and color. You can request the rules from your HOA rep. I live in a townhouse so this is a no go 🙅 ♂️
