Some towns. It's not universal. Freaking stupid but my town requires it. We use to take wagons out west and now we have to ask for permission to put something in our own yards. It's ridiculous.

I have a much larger version of this same shed. Got it from home depot and it arrived on a pallet delivered by flatbed. Many of the reviews talked about how it took months and at least two people to build. Yes this is smaller so should be less difficult but it is the same basic design and will still be a project. Based on how intense the reviews were about the difficulty of assembly I ended up paying home depot an extra $500 assembly fee which I was on the fence about because it felt lazy and that's a lot of money to me. In the end it took two full 8-9 hour days for a pro to build it plus had to order some extra parts from Lifetime and another 4 or so hours a couple weeks later to finish it up. It looked like a miserable job tbh and I no longer question the HD assembly fee. Worth every penny

btw do be aware it also needs a wood or concrete base, not included. I already had a concrete slab in the back yard that worked.

I have this - for anyone considering, I found this blog post helpful for the foundation: https://goodmorningloretta.com/20...rage-shed/

And I used these deck blocks: https://www.homedepot.com/p/CAMO-.../319396055

I have had this for about 15 years now, and it is still holding up. Plastic is a little bit faded, but not bad. Built it on top of a paver base. Put a small solar shed panel on the roof and ran the wire inside. Motion sensor light turns on if you go inside at night. I have an HOA, but mine said if I got my neighbors to approve, they would allow it (since it was over 6 ft) They said yes.

I would recommend it.

Took 3 hours to build solo. Put it on the side of my restaurant. It's been there for 2 years holding packaging FOH material. Flushed it to the bricks on the side of my formerly taco bell building, city hasn't noticed. They even wrote us up for some unsightly cartons outside and took pictures including the shed, thought it was over for us, luckily they haven't returned since I submitted rectification images of cleared cartons and we live to fight another day.

I've had this for 3 years now. It's survived 2 cat 2-3 winds with no issues.

I have this exact shed and I would buy again.
For those wondering on the base/pad. The highest end thing you can do get a pad poured. But if that cost and such is a hurdle that prevents you from buying this or severely delays this, I'd skip it.

I personally built the simple frame base with pressure treated 2x4 and ply wood, amounted to $50 in material at home depot. I dug up the grass and skipped adding sand and such. I had leftover bricks and used that as an outline and under all the middle beams. As long as you have it leveled its solid.
Zero movement and squeaks. If I had to do it again, do this same thing again.

Last thing, after you build it, DO secure it down to your base. We had some winds and it shifted the shed a few inches over. and thats with stuff in it.

Is this strong enough to hold solar panels on the roof?

I was originally thinking that Plus members got free shipping, but I guess maybe it's just free pickup based on the OP. Hopefully that will be updated if shipping is free with Plus. But people could also drive to Home Depot and rent one of their vans for like $20 to grab it and drop it off themselves if they don't have a car that can handle it. The upgrade to Plus would be like $110 in a worst case, but it's prorated for the year, so my account said $38 for the upgrade. Yeah, it's some extra expense and not the most convenient if pickup is required, but not a huge deal-breaker, given the price.

is a permit required for this shed?
In my town, yes. I have to get a land survey, have them update the location of the shed, make sure it falls within all guidelines, have the plans include the pad that it will go on, then I can get a permit and I have 6 month to go through with it and have an inspection completed to make sure everything was done as specified.

My solar panel for this is small. Probably 4x8 inches. It works fine for the shed light, though.
