I'm picking this up as a backup to my g pro wireless and my work mouse. $24 for a 40g mouse is decent if you are looking for weight class. G305 is 99g, which in my world is a heavy mouse. It's also running on a AAA and that's pretty old school.
—- never mind this requires a battery. Missed that.
I have one and ended up needing to replace the wheel sensor. That said, it's great now.. for an extra $20 eBay part, YouTube video instructions, and 30 min of my time.
I would not buy another 305 for that reason though.
The Rival 3 needed software running in the background for a lot of features. The g305 saved my changes to the mouse.
The Rival 3 went through batteries like crazy (even in battery saving mode). I haven't had the g305 long enough to determine battery life yet.
The Rival 3 scroll wheel went wonky. Down is fine, up is sporadic. I tried cleaning it based on some YouTube videos, no change.
The Rival 3 falls asleep and you need to press a button to wake it up. Sometimes it won't wake up until you unplug and replug the dongle. The g305 starts working when you move it, like any other mouse I have ever owned.

This also happened on both of my EVGA ones.
On my second one, I decided to fix it. This is the tutorial I used to fix it and it has been at least 6 months without issues now.
give it a shot, it took me like 30 mins to do
if I rmbr correctly, the thin metal bracket gets loose and I just bent it back to make it tighter.
