Is $.42/kWh good for standalone additions? I know most deals on here considered great are around $.30-.35, mainly $.32.

ridiculously expensive. not a good price! what dummies are upvoting this, except perhaps those who already have two delta pro 3s linked together via the hub, who still want to add even more extra battery capacity, and have the money to burn to buy a slick-looking all-ecoflow matching set-up?

another complete delta pro 3 unit has been on sale recently for just a couple hundred more ($1900), which comes with another 4000w inverter, another 2600w of solar input, in addition to the second 4kWh battery.

better to buy a second delta pro 3, so you can link the two together with the ecoflow 50 amp hub, to make a single 8000w inverter.

furthermore, you get the added redundancy. if one delta pro 3 breaks and needs servicing/replacing, you have a spare back-up.

if you just buy a 4 kwh extra battery, and your delta pro 3 breaks, the extra battery won't do you any good.

My reading comprehension was lacking earlier. Added the coupon and it went through. This is the lowest the single battery has ever been by about $200. Yes, the full unit is $1900 at best, but that isn't on sale right now for less than $2300 and it's not as efficient as a DC battery. This is for the diehards only, but the best deal yet for them

Too bad that can't be replicated now and the best price available for a new one at the moment is $2600-2800, so your point is entirely moot.

too bad the MARCH15 code seems to be dead, and *this deal* can't be replicated any longer either. you see how that works? sales are fleeting, and they quickly come and go.

there will always be more sales, and the delta pro 3 will come down again. why should anyone be rash and pay $2600-2800 for something that was under $2000 just a month to six weeks ago? this is a deals site you know, not a price is no object i have to have it right now site.

my point is, this is not a good price at all, even by overpriced ecoflow extra battery standards. perhaps if you live in one of the states that doesn't get taxed, it's not too bad and its an ok deal if you absolutely feel you need one of these overpriced expansion batteries that seamlessly integrate and match nicely with your delta pro 3 right at this moment.

i get that folks will pay a hefty premium for that extra functionality and seamless integration.

however, the ecoflow delta pro ultra batteries right now can be had for 0.341 per wh, and this comes in around 0.415 cents per wh, so this expansion battery is about 21.4% more than one would pay for the delta pro ultra extra batteries.

for the comparable wh price as the delta pro ultra extra battery, this would be under $1400.

i hardly think this is some outstanding deal, considering one could buy a whole additional delta pro 3 for just a couple hundred more, a little over a month ago.

as i said, if you already have two delta pro 3s, and you now want to start adding expensive ecoflow brand matching expansion batteries to your system, and you are in a state that didn't get taxed on this deal, this would have been a sort of a lukewarm deal for those folks with that specific use case.

purchasing a second delta pro 3, as opposed to an expansion battery, in some ways can be even more efficient and flexible!

for example, with the extra 4 kwh battery plugged into your delta pro 3, you double the battery capacity from 4 kwh to 8 kwh, but you can't charge both batteries any faster than if you had only one, right? you are still limited to ac wall-charging at 1800w with 120v, and 3,600w with 240v.

with two delta pro 3s, you can charge each one separately at 1800w + 1800w, i.e. twice as fast! (not from the same receptacle or circuit, you will have to find two different ones in your home, since most 120v outlets max out at 15 amps or 1875 watts).

it is not recommended to charge your power station at max speed if you can help it. you should only charge your unit at a full 1800w from the wall in emergency conditions, or if you are in a hurry. the faster you charge your unit, the more heat will be generated, the efficiency of charging will go down, and it's harder on the battery. if you can slowly charge your delta pro 3 at 500w instead of 1800w, it is preferable.

so, if you have only one delta pro 3, and this expansion battery, you can max charge both the unit and the expansion battery at 1800w from the 120v receptacle. but with two separate delta pro 3s you can set the charge of each at, say, 1000w a piece, for a total of 2000w. so, you are charging at a 200w faster rate, but not straining the chargers as hard and not generating as much heat in one single unit.

furthermore, with a second delta pro 3, you can charge each unit at a max 2600w + 2600w with solar, for a total of 5200w or twice as fast. with one delta pro 3 + extra battery, you are still capped at 2600w pv input to fill up both batteries.

same story with the ecoflow alternator charger. if the power goes out and you do not have a generator or solar to charge up your delta pro 3, you can use ecoflow's alternator charger hooked up to your car battery (or any external 12v or 24v battery; but not 36v or 48v) to charge your delta pro, along with the extra battery, at up to 800w.

however, with a second delta pro 3 instead of the extra battery, you could add an additional alternator charger and charge at twice the speed (800w + 800w) using either a second vehicle, or if you have external 12v or 24v batteries or a battery bank. you technically do not need a car or an alternator to make use of the alternator charger. only a 12v or 24v battery.

same story with the ev x-stream adapter(s). you can haul two delta pro 3s to an ev charging station and charge at twice the rate as you can with only one delta pro 3 + expansion battery.

more importantly, you can leave one delta pro 3 at home running your loads, while you take the second delta pro 3 to the ev charging station to fill it up! when the first one is drained, you simply rotate it with the fully charged one, and take the empty one to the ev charging station to fill it up.

you can't do all of this with one delta pro 3 with an expansion battery. you can't just take the extra battery and charge it at the ev station by itself. you need the main unit. if you take the main unit to the charging station, you might as well bring along the expansion battery, because the battery on its own can't run your loads at home.

two delta pro 3s gives you double the outlets, double the usb ports, double the solar/dc ports and of course you can split the two units up and locate them in different places or floors of your house, or in different parts of your property.

as i mentioned previously, you also have the added redundancy. if one breaks, you still have a back-up. if your single delta pro 3 breaks, the extra expansion battery you bought is useless on its own.

if the expansion battery for a delta pro 3 is not much cheaper than what the price of an entire whole new unit could be had for recently, with double the inverter, double the solar, double the inputs and outputs, then it's not really all that great of a deal, unless, as i said, you already have two delta pro 3s to begin with, and you want a slick and seamless setup with all matching and stacked batteries.

best to be patient and buy a second delta pro 3 before worrying about buying a bunch of expansion batteries, unless they are significantly less than an entire delta pro 3 unit.
