I tried both of those, as well as a few others... like audioengine, edifier, dayton, adam, focal, genelec, and the normal suspects for PC like Logitech, Klipsh, etc... and many more, there are SO MANY . Of all of them, for the best bang for the buck that also sounded like no compromise AMAZING speakers for music, with a stereo image that was insane, my favorite were the Yamaha HS7, HS8 speakers. They are a lot more than this (like 500 a pair I think), but way cheaper than speakers that sounded in the same ballpark sound quality wise like the focal, genelex, and adams. They are AMAZING.

I ended up going with a pair of Energy Veritas V2.0Ri's that I already had on hand, because comparing to everything I demoed, they were AWESOME. But if I didn't have these, and I couldn't find Event Opal monitors (arguably the best ever made, but I have been looking for 10 years and haven't seen a pair for under like $4k, they stopped making them ), then Yamaha would be #1 on my list.

If you have a Guitar center near you, they have a bunch of these on display to demo, and you can bring your own source(s) too... best way to see what you like without going through buying, demoing, and returning.

I am a professional audio engineer, and a music venue technical director/A1. I've mixed in studios outside of that since the 2000s. I've owned a number of low, mid fi, and hi end monitors. Everything from m-audio to genelec
This is a good deal at this price, i would buy these IMMEDIATELY for $200/pair. There's nothing this cheap that will compete with these at all. I actually have a set of presonus monitors on my desk as rinky dink gaming speakers that i absolutely love for that.
Would i use these for serious monitoring or anything? no. But these would kick ass for a bedroom or small living room vinyl setup, monster desktop speakers for gaming, bedroom DJ setup, etc.
The cheapest monitors Worth Using As Monitors are the Kali audio IN series, or yea, as someone else mentioned, the yamaha HS. Personally i find the yamahas a little "harsh" and fatiguing, but i like how you can crank them without them sounding bad.
The presonus speakers do everything the, for example, KRKs do at a price that reflects what those should actually cost. They're Fun, not super serious. And i personally think these will be just as good as any of the audioengine/etc Not Good but priced like it speakers out there. I also absolutely, without a doubt, would buy these as a first set of monitors to just make tracks in ableton/etc on. You don't need Super Good monitors for that, or even like necessarily decent ones! Pay any of the numerous sites online to master your tracks if you make something you're proud of.

For everyone asking, these do appear to be near-field as with all the presonus models i've seen so far. Only the biggest cheap monitors(IE krk rokit 10) are "midfield", at least on paper. i do believe these would perform perfectly fine in a mid-field setup as "fun" speakers though. Buy these! spend your extra money on room treatments(boxes/traps, not the stupid peel and stick foam), or even just putting a rug up on a wall and filling your room with stuff so it isn't an echo-y box.

Available for pre-order only. Not sure when it would ship. Says shipping would start at $12.95 but at checkout my shipping was $9.95 to Georgia. These are $299.99 at every other store I've seen online.

Read few reviews which basically says these are good sonically but very spartan in options. That's OK, I just wanted some large studio monitors to play which but I didn't want to pay a lot lol

Thanks, OP. US Ground to Georgia for 2 of them was $11.45 for me. I had north of $100 in rewards to burn (Embarrassment) which made this deal a no-brainer.

That being said, I have two pairs of JBL 306P MKIIs -- one for my standing desk and one for my seated desk setup in my home office. Anybody know if the JBLs or PreSonus would be better? I don't do much mixing -- just general music listening (and have a big ol' subwoofer tied to it).

I have a sneaking suspicion these are going to be way too big for me, but we shall see. Thanks for posting OP. Sure seems like a great deal. It'll be interesting to A/B these with my smaller JBLs. That is...if they ship. I'm curious if they'd just cancel the orders if it's a pricing error. FYI Capital One had a 3% cash back at Adorama (it's actually listed as 6% but not for what these fall into).

Which JBLs do you have? I might be in the same boat in terms of A/B testing.

Can anyone here recommend a medium venue DJ set up? Thinking banquet hall size. Two of these, a sub and an amp connected to audio source (controller/mixer), any opinions?
You do not want these the driver is not protected. Depends upon your budget, but a banquet hall can come in many sizes. A stereo pair of say boombox would be better and in a big space like a banquet hall unless you are at dedicated min 15in driven forget about it. Typically you want a pair. You can add a stage monitor later if you need. Maybe a waveguide speaker, etc. I would also get balanced if you are over say 10 feet.
If you are doing this on a budget I would go to Dayton audio or a stereo boombox setup to start.

How dumb would this be for nearfield listening on a desk for music and gaming? I have a pair of Kali LP-6v2s which I use for this purpose in a medium sized bedroom. They are 2.5 feet away from me and 3 feet apart between a monitor on some Framework desk stands. Would this be a terrible idea? I know these are bigger but for the price are they meaningful upgrade?
