It's mainly internal changes, such as the springs in the triggers being 40mm instead of 30mm. You really won't feel/see any difference unless you take it apart.
Yes. Either that or order new and return broken. There is no serial # on the box that ties to the controller.

Sony learned from Nintendo that if they produce crappy controllers, they can make more money. So they're essentially forcing our hand, since they won't service them

Kudos to Nintendo for fixing for free
What's V2 about it? Or is V2 a way to differentiate standard color controller from variants?

We bought the edge controller recently. It's expensive though. We have had numerous gaming systems, and the PS5 and switch have been the only systems we ever had stick drift on. When our third PS5 controller for stick drift we bought the edge controller. Shouldn't happen like it does as we are careful with them and take care of them. Ridiculous.

3 of 3 ps5 controllers developed stick drift. That's a 100% failure rate for us. I still have 3 ps4 controllers that work perfectly. Not one of those had this issue.

I wouldn't.

These are fabulous controllers out of the box, but stick drift IS a thing with them. You can mitigate it somewhat making tweaks to the profile in DS4Windows and recalibrating with a Github tool, but...srsly man, fkk all that.

You can get any number of hall effect pads at this price point, which will be a much better buy in the long run.

It's your money, do what you want, but when Regret Monkey crockslaps you with the ol' Tokyo Drift that's 100% gonna be on you.
I do of course appreciate the suggestion and input, but I have to respond with, I have owned 4-6 controllers for every major gaming console system that has been released in the US (all except for the PS5) including quite a few 8BitDo controllers, and I have yet to ever once have a single controller "go bad" or the analog stick start to "drift". Maybe Im just crazy lucky, or I take wild good care of my toys (I do), but I'm thankful to have never had that issue yet after decades of gaming.

I've had a PS5 for years and haven't had any issues with my controllers. I feel like stick drift is a thing with the switch controllers because they're so small and chintzy feeling, but no issues with my PS controllers. I have an 8bitdo that I've been really disappointed with though. It freezes when I try to use it with my Steam Deck, and has phantom button presses when I use it on PC. No stick drift though!

We're currently on revision 5 of these controllers. You're saying these are from 2021?

2 more years for PS6, currently PS4 has over 600 games, can rent them at gamefly. PS5 less than 300 games.

Any different than original?
They are already up to V5 and no, nothing really noticeable besides some re-engineering of innards. I have a white v1 from launch PS5 and a white v5 from upgrading to PS5 pro. I really have a hard time noticing any difference. I'm sure someone will come along with an "acthually..." but I'm going to say most normal people will not see any difference.

I have never soldered before and just changed 3 sets of joysticks.

Get a heat gun and solder pump it makes taking the old sticks off easier.

Don't forget to calibrate after.
Neat, thanks for the tip. I went down the rabbit hole and ended up getting the Gulikit TMR sticks.

There is no actually, later controllers the trigger cables are different and they have less screws than a bdm-010 that uses them to secure the touchpad. They are roughly the same all around the changes to the ribbons are minor. Less capacitors near the thumbsticks in later revisions makes the swap easier but they all use the same thumbstick module from Alps, you can replace them with Hallpi, GuliKit, or Ginfull TMR but soldering experience is needed.

I am not in a hurry to get another controller, is this the best price to get one? What is a good price to pull the trigger on?
