Reading more into it, seems like some people find them more comfortable, some people find them less comfortable compared to the XM4's
XM3 - Right ear stopped ANC after 5-years (still works without ANC)
XM4 - Left ear came with buzzing ANC for certain frequencies, but otherwise fine (use it for PC)
XM5 - Hinge broke after 2-years daily use
The ear cups on the 3-4 are slightly more comfortable than the 5 for me, but the 5 can be worn all-day without a headband cover and feels lighter on my head. The 5 drove me crazy at first as a fingerprint magnet, cups turning the opposite direction, and lack of folding. But after swapping the ear pads for aftermarket ones, they became my most comfortable headphones making me put up with the other issues. Co-workers and clients report it has the best call quality as well.
If you're happy with the 3-4, I don't think I'd "upgrade" to the 5... I actually ended up re-buying the 4 and 5. 4 for travel and 5 for daily use.

The sound quality and Noise cancellation are fantastic but the comfort of its design cannot go unnoticed because of how thin of a headband it has. It has the tendency to cause a lot of discomfort over long periods of time (I mitigate that with a wrap band from Amazon to make the band have a bit more surface area and cushion to set on my head vs digging into my head with the thin band)
If the warranty claims do not resolve with replacement/refund it will be the last time I buy these despite their sound quality and I'd go with an XM4 route or alternative brand.
