No GPS on these. Probably better off going for amazfit if you're looking for a budget fitness watch.
I got this for $50 a month ago to replace my latest fitbit with battery issues. My need was just a step counter for an insurance discount, and it works great for that. The app is oddly complex to setup on a phone (samsung app plus watch app, plus plug in downloads).
I had tried amazfit and got defective batteries twice in a row, i didnt want to waste time with that again.

How's the battery life with all day and night (sleep tracking) wearing?

My wife got this for Christmas and ended up giving it to me. It works good and became my daily band. It works flawless, very light, and long battery life. Don't really have any complaints. Solid device! keep in mind that international versions won't have warranty from Samsung USA.

Agreed with others - battery life is great. Also charges super fast even with a small, old charger I had leftover.
Wife and I use ours for sleep tracking every day. I charge mine while showering, and never run out. If I don't charge for a few days, it doesn't matter... I have gone almost 10 days without a charge. I seem to average about 10% per day.
Of course, this can change if you adjust settings. Continuous O2 reading takes up a good deal of power. So would always-on-screen. I don't use either. Continuous O2 would take about 30-40% per day as I recall (when I tried it).
My wife I came to this one from Fitbit Charge5s - both had a sudden-death battery situation. I liked the old Fitbits, but the newer ones are really awful, so I was very happy to dump them for these, which cost half as much. I got ours almost a year ago as international versions, and they're still working great. Mother-in-law has one too now, also from a Fitbit. All were under $50 (this appears to be regular price on international versions).
Yes, the apps are a bit of a mess (2 needed, one handles some hardware stuff, the other is Samsung Health which does the actual tracking). This confuses the wife and MIL a bit, but it's not too bad.
As for GPS tracking, if you have your phone with you, then Samsung Health will track GPS using the phone anyway, so I don't need it in the device.
Overall, very happy with these versus Fitbit. And there aren't too many other options for long-battery trackers otherwise... so at this price it's a great deal IMO.
I'm looking for a basic smart watch that has a long battery life.
Needs text/email/call notifications (Don't need to be able to answer/reply to any of those from the watch)
Step counter
Customizable watch faces.
What would you guys recommend?
I currently have a Pixel Watch 2 that I got with my Pixel 8 Pro but the battery lasts about a day if I take it off the charger about 7a.m. it dies around 11p.m. or so.
I've had this watch since last April and it's great. I really don't get why you'd want more out of a smart watch. Its Samsung Health in a watch. So if you use that, this is a no brainer. It's still being updated. I never have issues syncing. Battery life is excellent. I usually charge it once a week, sometimes longer. Thats with AOD off. I do wish that it had wireless charging.
Is this good for just playing music to headphones without a phone? I used my apple watch 3 up until apple made it basically unusable
There are no apps for this watch, its strictly a fitness tracker. You can however control your music/volume/playlist through it when its connected to your phone.
