It's my first time hearing about a Philips OLED in the US. First Panasonic and now Philips. It's good to see competition in the OLED space.

Just something to be aware of and I'm not sure if it applies to OLED technology so you may be ok here, but back a couple of firmware releases ago, Roku took out the option to turn OFF motion smoothing (interpolation aka soap opera effect). Just completely removed it from the options menu and it's now stuck on permanently.

Many threads on Reddit and their own Roku branded tv sets discuss this so please do your due diligence researching this issue.

I think there is version that been on a European market that support Hue lights without box, they recently added that to LG tv, wondering if that will be available in that model.

The consumer line U.S. region was licensed off to Funai. TP Vision later bought Philips TV which are sold in Europe. TP Vision also sells commercial grade Philips TVs in the US. Based on what I know, TP Vision Philips = decent. Funai Philips = mediocre.

I'm actually curious if TP Vision sells the consumer TVs now because Philips has released much better TVs recently like this OLED. They could be trying to re-enter the US consumer market after the licensing deal with Funai expired. Yes, it's now Chinese owned but Philips was retained in the sale to TPV, who have a history of making good monitors.

Or this could be like Sanyo that uses LG panels with some corners cut to bring price down.

i know this is crazy, but how does this compare to the LG C4?

I really like the LG but can't stand the OS especially with a small toddler. As soon as the tv boots up, it has all these adds and suggestions and much prefer the cleaner Roku as an OS so you aren't slammed with a million images right when you turn on the tv.

I do have an Apple TV but you first have to turn on the tv and click to get to Apple tv and of course toddlers are toddlers and in that few moments they see all the images being thrown in their face.

You can turn ads off in webOS. My home screen on my LG C3 is completely ad free. You can also set the TV to default to a recent input when powered on. Problem solved--all 3 of them.

Good. Who doesn't like smooth motion.

I have the opposite problem with my 2022 LG OLED - I turn on Motion Clarity - Natural - and it always disables that setting every time I turn the TV off, and I have to re-enable it every time for every input.
It's a PITA. If given the option to leave it on once and for all, I'd jump on it.
