These type of hooks are great for cruises.
The walls of the staterooms are typically made of magnetic material. So these magnets stick very well and allow for many creative uses. Hanging bags, hats, jewelry or curtains used to partition.

Lots of uses on a cruise ship.
I used these to hang outdoor string lights from Costco inside a 10x10 ft metal gazebo. Worked flawlessly since the light strips have hangers above each lightbulb that hooked onto these easily. They are protected from the outdoor elements thanks to the gazebo overhang and have held up extremely well in windy conditions, in some cases gusts of up to 60mph. Still going strong and it's been 2 years.

If you don't need 20 then your local Harbor Freight should have a 4 pack for $5.
I literally just bought some 3 days ago while I was there

Yea, you probably have the 100lb which I agree is great, but these are 30lbs not so great.

I just received these and they are stronger than I expected. I also ordered the 44 lb and these are about 1/2 the size and almost as strong. For some reason I am limited to ordering one set at a time but was able to place another order. These will hold outdoor extension cords on shipping container walls with no problem.

They come disassembled with the magnet with a threaded nut in one piece. These can be used with various 3D printed projects without the hook.

Good price. About the same price as ordering from AliExpress without the wait.

I bought these in 2022.
The problem is that the description kind of lies.
I actually ordered this exact item when they were claiming they were actually claiming it was 25LB, Amazon shows my receipt as
DIYMAG Magnetic Hooks, 25Lbs Strong Magnet Hooks for Kitchen, Home, Cruise, Workplace, Office and Garage, Pack of 20
Sold by: DIYMAG $11.84$11.84
and even with that they BARELY were strong enough unless you're using them on full bare metal.
Try to hook a coat or clothes with maybe more than 5LB and they will slowly sag down a basic painted wall unless you got the metal surface area.
$6 is a good price if you need it for little things and not 100% need the weight claimed. I originally got these as a test to see if I can string up smaller cams along a drop ceiling track and hold up curtains against the corner plate on the windows without using curtain rods. I ended up using better magnets.

Attached is a photo of the magnet with an M4 Screw
of course these are rated for use with bare metal. remember magnetic attraction falls off as a square of the distance so even paint or a thin sheet of powder coat will reduce the hold. This isn't false advertising it's physics.

Yes, if you mount horizontally you will have less than half the holding strength. this is in the product description. Magnets are not as strong in sheer.

It sounds like your complaint cases are exactly how these should perform.

Go easy on these poor magnet guys LOL

While Amazon only allows you to buy one 20 pack, you can always order another one later. I ordered a pack on Friday, Saturday and today. I'm already using them to hang grilling tools from metal tables on the back patio as well as in the garage. I'd like to point out that these are very strong neodymium magnets and you don't need to screw in the hook if you just want the magnet, though of course you have the little stem on it. Personally I like that because it makes it easier to move these suckers! Also, these are considerably cheaper than just neodymium magnets capable of holding 30+ lbs.

And I appreciate the tip about using an M4 screw in place of the hook, that gives considerably more space to hang something on.

Thank you. Powerful magnets. The threaded stud accepts a screw instead of the hook making them extremely versatile. Slick price.

No issues with rust? It doesn't really mention if they're outdoor safe or stainless. I'd be placing along the inside edge of a metal railing on a balcony, and would rather avoid rust stains all over the metal/glass/cement

How would I use thiis on a wall or piece of wood? Don't want to use magntic tape. Another option that would be about 10 feet long would be? Something I could nail up on both ends?
You wouldn't; if your walls are made of wood, magnets aren't going to be your ideal solution. I've screwed steel panels into wood before and that worked great, but most people have wood for a reason and it's not so they can panel it with steel plates lol.

They're stainless, the magnets are nickel plated. Having said that, rust finds a way.

Are these strong
They're strong but they won't hold 30 lbs except for very specific cases (I got some for work). Also, the amount of weight they'll hold is a proportion based on the angle at which the magnet sits and the direction the weight is being pulled.

Actually, mine are 28lb after checking my order. These are the ones I purchased so you can compare to the ones posted here.

I didn't notice any rust last summer which marked 1 full year outside. I'm in the east coast (NJ) so I haven't stepped foot inside of it since last summer. I'll inspect things once I start going out now with the weather finally turning around here. The gazebo is coated so I'm hoping I can just rub any rust stains that may have developed off if it's early enough in the process.

These were the perfect solution to my problem. My HVAC system has 16x20 filters in the ceiling behind metal vents. There's a several-inch gap between the metal vent and the duct, so if you just leave the filter in there loose, when the fan comes on, it sucks the filter up to the top and makes a loud bang. Since the surrounding walls are metal, I found these clips (four per filter) work perfectly to hold it perfectly snug at the top.

*I bought the 4-pack at Harbor Freight for $5.
