Buy a book on cloud storage, 256GB is plenty for 99% of people.
typical crier of about Mac. Don't buy one, don't look at it. This is Mac thread, no one cares about your opinions and your love for Windows and crying about memory and now storage and something else.
Aesthetic machines that is functionally fantastic for many people and FASTER than most other windows devices. I gave you Arm which is cheap as hell due to that fact that app comp is simply shit that's why many people return it but ARM chip are of decent speed but no where near M3/M4. Crying about storage that can easily be attached, just sounds silly to me. I don't need that much storage on a laptop cuz it will get tossed/lost etc.
Newest Intel chip speed is slow as dogs compared to M3/M4 and most of those machines are plastic and do not look good. thicker, heavier and with stupid fans that kicks in and battery life. LOL! 2.7lbs, looks good, sturdy, fast as hell, great app comp for my needs. I'll try Zenbook A14 2.2lb ARM laptop one day if app compatibility is better. but then again I can do more on a 2.7lb M4 Air any day of the week so I may not get that A14 toy just to save 0.5 lbs on the carry and sacrificing app use.

Anyone know if the M4 MacBook has upgradeable SSD/NVME? Curious because the M4 Mac Mini is upgradeable and none of the M4 MacBook reviews on YouTube this far has talked about this. If the M4 MacBook is upgradable, that alone justifies the $300 premium.

Almost certainly not. The m4 mac mini was a complete redesign.
The m4 macbook air added a color and uses the same chassis.

A complete non-sequitur.I opine on limited storage and you retort with ramblings about speed, ARM processors on windows, and engineering prowess.Forget a new computer. Buy a book on logic.
your premise was that macbooks are aesthetic machines and used the limited storage to back that premise up. Elon69 refuted the fact that macbooks are aesthetic machines by stating the speed, and build quality. You might want to bush up on logic yourself.

Don't look at it is impossible when they are flooding fp and popular... Don't kid yourself bud.
To be honest if you think 256GB is enough for most people those same people would not notice performance improvements and would be better off with a nice OLED screen like I've seen on some Windows machines here...

The M4 Mac Mini is not really upgradeable to most consumers (98% of the population). It is a very high skilled endeavor that most of us can't perform or have the time for.

Uh? There are a ton of Windows deals. Ignore and move on is simple
Also ton of deals I don't care about... a lot more than Macs / windows. I can just skip them.
It's not hard.
I have OLED on my M4 iPad, it's nice. I also have an OLED TV but I prefer a large screen so I don't watch the 65" OLED as often.
Laptop - There are lots of ARM Windows with OLED but until I can run my apps I will not bother moving to it unless I have the app usage. (I tried it, had some deal breakers so I returned the ARM windows machine like many people did).
I use MacBook Pro 120Hz as primary and the retina display is good enough for now. Nicer if OLED but until it exists on a machine that I want to use all the time, I will stick to what works for me.
I think it's fine if people want to buy Windows and ARM and for the cheaper ram, storage, and OLED. forcing it on someone else is silly.
For a long time windows need battery life, now ARM windows has it but (for me) app compatibility is still an issue.
So you have to make your trade offs. ARM chip is fast, good OLED, super cheap due to app compatibility, but do you want it enough? It certainly has the value and performance and specs (other the app issues for me personally).
But I also have a ton of Apple gear. I want my Messages to go everywhere, I want my keychain everywhere also. I also want my credit card to show up everywhere when I make a purchase. Can I do that on Windows? sure, not without a lot of work and making diff apps to work together. For me that's still a NO GO cuz the software is too good across all of the devices I use.
Mac HW may be more expensive but the entire ecosystem is priceless and too good for me and I'm willing to pay to keep that ecosystem.
many argues they can do the same on Windows. No they can't. ask me to use diff messaging apps, well NO. Where are my credit cards stored? I need to use yet another app for password synch? I need a google login to keep notes in Google apps? what a pain in the ass. Oh all of the passwords are only in Chrome and not in "Apps"? I can't use the password in mobile apps either? god damn it I have to do so many things myself now to keep everything connected just because I want to use windows. forget it. lol.

No it isn't since there isn't any keyword tuning on here. Same applies for other categories. Once again stop kidding yourself. I'd like to remove specific Windows deals too but I can't.

I also think it's crazy to buy a 256GB computer, from any brand, for anybody, in 2025. But I am still curious how much space is left on the machine once the OS install is accounted for. How much available to users out of the box?
