not enough differentiation with the previous gen. I want to assume these wont fly off the shelves so hopefully we can expect "aggressive" discounts from the get go. thats a very weird launch TBH. 1 year apart and practically no changes

I am still happily rocking my 11" M1 Pro. If I'd upgrade, it would be to an M4 for the new OLED screen and lighter weight. The only drawback is that I'd need a new pencil pro in area of pencil 2, so that's another $100 or so. If you have pre-M1 pro, this is a good deal. Otherwise, I'd wait for a deal on the M4

Exactly… around last year's iPad Air M2 launch… all the M1 Airs went down to as low as $400 and I picked one up. I expect the M2 Airs to go down to at least $450 sometime in the near future as well. Many educational institutions already have the M2 Air for $450

Edu gift card deal happens between June and August. As far as M3 vs M2, the difference is negligible. If it actually matters for your use case then you should get the iPad Pro with M4 anyway. The M2 only lasted barely 10 months. One of the shortest lives of any Apple product ever.

I don't understand why M3 in these when m4 has been out for a year. MacBook airs already have m4. Apple needs to stop holding out or start pricing their devices reasonably instead of making asinine moves like this and crying about decreasing profits.
