Statgear is not only a brand, but it's a shill brand. If you see their products, there's a good chance someone was paid to present it to others. Additionally, their knives say "Statgear" or "SG" right on them. If they're not the brand, then who do you think is? I don't trust anybody who posts anything promoting Statgear because I know they're trash.

I bought a Statgear Ausus D2 in 2020 (my first pocket knife ever) and it was absolute garbage.. yet in the thread that discussed it everyone raved about it. Ironic how that works.

It now lives in my shed and cuts fertilizer and other lawn bags. Just about all its good for.

What you're saying is a lot of BS. Statgear is trash, and usually the people promoting them are shills. If they were actually good knives, I would be here telling you what a great deal these are for $10, but they're simply not.

I know, because they pay people to hype them. I am a collector who owns hundreds of knives. If a knife is at least decent, I would tell you, but if something is trash I'm going to tell you too.

Statjunk That is enough not to buy it. Also, don't care for slipjoint, but not necessarily a deal breaker.

Statgear is not a brand it is an importer. You are trying to review a knife that comes out of China factory by the name that get slapped on a box. Trying to generalize and review a particular knife that may have come from a different source than other knives they sell makes no sense. This knife might well made in the same China factory that makes for Kershaw or other importers for all we know. Some very low cost knives coming out of Chan can be quite good, so good that even Spyderco does it.

Stagear stuff is far from high end but I have found most all nice or a good value if you can catch them on sale. Not a brand I would ever pay full retail for but can be a good value on sale. Similar slip joints run $20 and well up. If you know of a better alternative let us know.

Multiple reviews of it are out there and it looks nice for this price. Even has milled liners and the fit and finish look great for $9 knife. Nice detents by what I can see also.

They are a China knife just like the ones that say Kershaw, Byrd or Ozark Trail on them are. My point being that it is the factory that matters.

Many names and brands can be stamped on knives coming from the same place. Spyderco china knives come out of the same factory that sells other branded knives with not well known names. If we use your logic we can say Spyderco or Kershaw is crap and shill brands.

I don't need to be told who to trust as I know knives pretty well and have handled and dealt with more than my share and that includes Statgear.

One I had really did outshine Kershaw's China stuff in fiit finish, material and functionality. A Pocket Samurai has been on the wife's keychain for years now and still works and function perfectly. I have gifted and sold many of Slingers that are on Amazon for $27 and well reviewed and have never had a complaint or return. I would never pay that but when caught on a deal for around $10 they are a good value and very nice knife for the price.

Please tell of of your experience with any particular Statgear or more importantly with this one. I ask what particular of the knife do you not like.
I'm quite aware that SD does promoted deals but that has nothing to do with the particular product that may be good, bad or somewhere in the middle. So far you just share words like shill and trash and general dislike of SD policy.

Till then I do not trust people that trash a product or deal they have never saw or touched based on preconceived notions and misunderstandings of how products and the marketplace works. I have learned through life and on SD to be distrustful of those that talk in absolutes and use words like junk, trash or shill but never give specifics or stay on topic. They seem to have some other agenda to make sure the world knows their feelings about stuff in general as if that has something to do with the actual product in a particular deal.

At the $10 price range I would absolutely pick up the Ozark trail D2 knife over this all day and twice on Sunday. I actually also like the $3 Ozark trail knife that was on sale around Christmas time. I think it's like $6 now.

And before that in 2023 we have a SD post for $12, for historical reference.

I have two they're pretty disappointing. The quality seems below kershaw and gerber. Not a fan of the ugly grips and not ergonomic at all

Statgear used to have a factory in Brooklyn, I think they started selling EMS gear and the knives were a more profitable item because of a more wide customer base so they are known as a knife manufacturer. I have one knife from them, it is heavy (which I dont mind as its lighter then the 9 or 45 I'm carrying) and its kind of rough which as a guy I dont fear. So if you like the style and you are ok with the D2 blade why argue about it.

Now we get to it and if there is any BS here it may be hidden snobbery.

You have never have had, owned or use any Statgear yet just know them trash from your collector's perch looking down on us all. You are in no position to tell anybody anything about a particular Statgear as you have never touched one. You review product without having touched a product. You are the BMW and Jaguar collector or owner that stops by to inform the people in the Ford deal of what bad taste they have.

You shill to promote yourself instead of sharing knowledge of a particular knife to make sure all know your fine taste in knives.

Deals are not about just your taste and if a deal is promoted it does not equate to a bad product. I have had Statgear and they are on par, better than and worse than other China knives. Tha all depends on the specific model and what factory put it out. That is not BS but how the market works.

As a collector I will ask you as I asked others what similar and better slip joint knife can you find at about this price point?
Based on the nonsense you are spreading., obviously you are shilling for them.

Also, I very rarely buy slipjoints. They're not my preference. If I did, I would probably spend more than $10 on one.
