No, don't just do it, this is poor advice..

Just wait till the G5 officially launches very soon: preorders are live in the UK at the same retail price as the G4 did when it was first released.

If 200-600 dollars in savings is nothing for you then this is good advice, otherwise: HOLD THE LINE!!

The brightness. The G5's are using a 4 stack oled panel for a major brightness increase with reduced power usage and heat.

65" G3 went on clearance for $999.99 at Costco, Best Buy, and Amazon during the holiday season, although they got snapped up fast as you can imagine.

Not saying it will 100% happen again this year … but keep an eye out because the G models are much more likely to go on deep clearance like that due to the lower sales and retailers needing to clear stock.

Just do it. So what if the G5 is coming out? No matter what, you're always going to be behind in tech. Guess what… The G6 is coming out next year. You gonna wait for the 5 to come out, then wait another 8 months for it to start dropping to prices like this, and then decide that since you've waited that long, you can wait for the 6, and so on? The perpetual waiting that some people do on here cracks me up.

Considering a G4 over a C5 since the C5 doesn't offer anything new and the G4 is still better with MLA. Not interested in touching the G5 launch prices though...

This is where I am at. G4 is still better than just about anything else out now so still a very good choice. Also should not have any tint issues from an angle with MLA so that is an advantage. It's not closeout or PM pricing but still a good deal of you need something now and aren't waiting around for an unicorn.

On the downside I'm not sure how the 5 year panel warranty will work since they are stopping producing MLA panels. Where would replacement panels be sourced from in a few years? IDK but I guess cross that bridge if you need to, like all consumer electronics. At lease you have some protections and they can always give you a new TV at a discount, if they feel like it.

G5 will for sure be brighter but the G4 blew me away coming from a 77" CX - my two cents for anyone looking to upgrade. Not a bad deal if you're in the market.
