Yes they expire and go rancid after about a year. I bought a whole bunch of these a few years back and regretted it storing them all when I went to grab one it was like black jelly coming out
How were you storing those??? That should definitely never happen. I've been working my way through a pack of these for the past 4 or 5 years and they're still just like new.
With these filters, you'll get a sour or fishy taste when they stop working even if their gimmicky reader still reads 0 ppm. Another tell that it is nearly time to change the filter is how long it takes for the pre-filtered water to go through. If you still have water in the top reservoir when you'd expect otherwise, then consider changing filters. This starts before the sour or fishy taste. From my experience, I get 45 days per filter. My kids won't drink the zero water. So it's just the dog and me. I mostly use it for cooking.

The 15% additional discount is not offered on the 8 pack for me, but it is available on 3 other pack options, including the 12 pack.

After coupon and 15% S&S discount, the total is $112.49 + tax ($121.94).. so just over $10/filter, which is a solid price.

I was able to get the 8 pk to work for a total of $89.XX, so just under $11 each. Honestly pretty decent deal for these filters in these times

It doesn't last long for our tap water, feel like bottle water is cheaper.

Definitely check their website where they specify the filter's performance against the hardness of your water. In mine case the performance has been very close to what they say. It is cheaper than buying bottled water but not by much, but the convenience of not having to carry or drive to buy bottled waters I get these.

I have heard something similar about a "sour" taste of the water after some time and someone brought up water hardness. Which made me think a water softener would be beneficial around the house and then an RO system for drinking water.

yes, the water turns sour after about a month or two of usage, and the filter basically gets clogged and stops working (and their meter starts reading a higher value for me). having said that, this is still the best water filter i have tested. this isn't a crazy deal, these often come <$10 without jumping thorough S&S hoops. i wonder if adding a cheap filter/water softener prior to this will help expand the lifespan.

For our tap water with 500+tds, zero water lasted only 1 week at best. After using it for couple of years, switched to simpure y9t desktop reverse osmosis system. Happy so far

Tried that with Costco/brita filters. Did not do much to the life of filter.

Best price i have seen is in kohls when they have 30 or 40% off coupon with kohls cash. Usually you can get the price down to about $100 for 12 filters.

These are good, they filter fluoride and other nasty chemicals, but at this price just buy a real whole home filter.

While these do filter out a lot of dissolved solids, its not certified to remove fluoride & Chloramines. It must be mentioned that tds is not a determination on the quality of the water.

I used these for a while, went through numerous filters, got tired of having to replace them within a relatively short usage per filter.

I switched to waterdrop, it's alright. A lot less filter replacements and no change in water taste if filter runs out.

I never had this problem. Now I'm wondering if I should be on the lookout.
