Negative reviews (amazon) seem to be related to graphics card failure on arrival. From what I've observed this is a thing with the bigger cards in PCs being shipped (not on a pallet delivered to a store but tossed around as a package), this is a packaging/handling problem. I've seen other companies ship with foam inside the PC to support the heavier cards but then there inevitably are still failures as consumers are not careful when removing the foam.

The reason I would not get this is due to Ryzen 7 5700X using AM4 socket. AMD release socket AM5 which would make it more future proof than AM4.

Was on the fence for the 4070 but it's gone so no more needing to debate. I'm running a 6750 XT so would have been a semi decent jump.

It would have been nice if this 4070 has at least 12GB of VRAM. This is not future proofing though, we'll need at least 12+ GB VRAM to be safe as most of the newer games are using almost 8GB at a higher resolution.

All desktop 4070's(including the base) have at least 12 GB of VRAM. Only the laptop 4070's have 8GB.
