I tried this one but couldn't read license plates with it. May have just had a bad unit, but the image was not clear using any of the modes.

I bought the R2-4K Dual a couple months ago and would recommend it. Even though it shares a similar name, the Dual model has a better sensor than the R2-4K and R2-4K Pro models.

Which of the units did you purchase and had difficulty reading the license plates? I'm looking to get my first dash cam for my new vehicle and trying to figure out reliable brands and if it's worth getting only front, back, and and/or inward facing cameras or just certain ones.

Imo unless you are an uber driver, no need for internal recording.
