Stanley thermoses have sucked for quite some time now. The stainless steel that they use will leave a bad taste, they are not very effective. I used to use them and found out it's because when they started manufacturing them in China the quality hit dirt. Swithching to the Thermos brand made a night and day difference. Japanese steel and better quality all around. It does not leave a tainted taste in the water and coffee like the Stanley did when I was unhappily using them.
